Look, first off, I don't post stuff often so I don't even know if I'm putting this in the right section of the forums. So please just tell me if this doesn't belong here. Anyway, the Sunburst's Computer chip logic is a little weird. It just kind of bugs me that there's 6 gears on that car and the shift points are extremely high. If my knowledge is good enough, I'd say that the car was based off a Kia or a Hyundai model if anything but, what I'm saying is that those cars are fuel efficient meaning that they'd have low shift points for you know...efficiency. But anyway, the car has no other issues as far as I know of so if someone decides to read this, I'll go more in depth in what I'm trying to say. There were also some other cars such as the 2000 Pessima and such with the same issue.

Are you accelerating fully or gently pressing the pedal? Because automatic transmissions will raise shift points with higher throttle input.

Let's say I'm cruising around 45-50 MPH and I'm pressing the gas enough to keep me at speed (most likely under 30 throttle). The transmission should shift to highest gear for efficiency right? No, instead, it lets the engine rev at around 4000 RPM or so which is too high meaning it's inefficient and could lead to overheating problems. Another car specifically I wanted to mention was the 2000 Ibishu Pessima. It surpasses 4000 RPM and almost reaches redline before it shifts to 4th (last) gear at cruising speeds (about 45-50 MPH). I own a 1998 Toyota Camry and it shifts below 3000 RPM and it's supposed to be a 3 speed auto with a 4th gear O/D.

The stock shift points on all the standard cars are a bit to high. I always retune them back to shifting at like 2000rpm when cruising for the little cars and about 1850rpm for the V8s.

Yeah you have a point, the autos in this game seem to be tuned for acceleration more than anything.

How are you re-tuning the shift points?

Also thanks for some people understanding what happened. :)

After thinking about it another minute, what you are really looking for is this mod: http://beamng.com/resources/customizable-engines-and-drivetrains.747/
    -------------------------
Put in a racing gearbox with the parts selector. With that you'll be able to configure the ratios for every gear to your liking. With the racing differential you also should be able to configure the overall ratio, might be easier.
Also there could be a difference between the standard arcade automatic and the "real" automatic. Press "Q" to switch between those modes. But for the real automatic you'll need a car configuration with an automatic gearbox while the arcade automatic works with every car. My assumption is that the arcade automatic mode is made more for racing than cruising.

PS IMHO the Sunburst is more a reminiscence of a Subaru Impreza (if you look at the higher trims it becomes more obvious with the big wings and awd), altough i read somewhere its mechanicly more a Mitsubishi Lancer.

Keep in mind arcade automatic its not exactly realistic. Are you using the sunburst with the automatic DCT?

Alright guys, yes, I am using Real Automatic with the 6-speed DCT trans in the Sunburst using the Regular ESC. I didn't want to download that mod because it's too much of a hassle to get everything set for one car and then have to do it over again for another preset or another car. So, I hope a Dev might see this post or someone who has connections with the people who make the game because, even as Tanner mention that's it is more of a Subaru or a Mitsubishi, even those cars don't have 3200 RPM low shift points. Keep in mind that this car has 6 gears so you'd assume the shift points would be pretty low under light throttle. Right?

Automatics in BeamNG have never been a strong point. If i am not wrong, the next update will fix it.

Yup, I'm pretty sure the devs said somewhere that the next update was the new transmission system. Correct me if I am wrong.
Edit- This is incorrect more info in the post below me.

Nobody ever said that, a new drivetrain is in the works, but it's a huge task touching almost every single part of the vehicle Lua code.
Therefore an ETA can't and won't be given. :)

So drivertrains will get a touch up but not automatic trannys itself? oh bummer.

Who said that? What makes you think transmissions are not part of the drivetrain?

I hear mods breaking... Sounds like fun. I can't wait to have a look at what's been done.

Wait, is it the drivetrain, or the entire powertrain that is being rebuilt?

I didn't said that? i specified "automatic tranny itself".

If you are also gonna update automatic transmissions, that's great then.

Certainly a topic that has a lot of work going into it. We try to keep backwards compatibility as much as possible. :)
