Sort of random but relevant thread. Just a shout out to those in the Caribbean, especially my online acquaintances who live in Jamaica. I hope you all can make it through this monster of a storm. Stick to your faith whatever that may be and do whatever else you do in a hurricane (I have no experience unfortunately). God be with you all. sorry if that sounded depressing but you guys are fairly boned.
Matthew has went through Haiti and is right this second making landfall in Cuba. Matthew hitting Florida is possible.
My sister lives about 10 miles east of Tampa. I swear if I were to draw the track lines of every hurricane that has crossed Florida over the last 15 years I'd think she is blessed. 2004 was an amazing year of pure luck for her.
I did research, when Matthew hits the south eastern coast of USA, the winds will be around 100 mph, and right now the wind guts are 160 mph, its a cat 4 right now making landfall at cuba, prayers is going out to everyone getting affected
Sometimes I feel lucky for being on the northern Gulf of Mexico side of Florida. Hurricanes just don't like to come over here (With the exceptions of Ivan and Dennis, those stupid buggers).
That's saddening news to hear to me, I've never really experienced anything really like this/natural disasters, I live in the UK and we don't really have much like that. I should be grateful about my country. It may have shitty weather but at least nothing like that
As much as that picture shows, Central Florida is about to get the worst part, I'm a bit south of Miami and right now it's not really that "bad" but there's still tons of rain, and wind is blowing around 20-35MPH/ 32-56KMH right now, tonight that is going to pick up around 50-53MPH/ 80-85KMH. Flood waters haven't reached my neighborhood yet, only me and some people whose houses are heavily fortified for hurricanes have stayed behind regardless of the Weather, News, and the Governor freaking out and issuing a mandatory evacuation for all of Florida as it seems.. Worst case scenario to happen right now is power failing, or flood waters reaching above 1-3 feet, but like I said, it's not entirely bad down south compared to central, but it's bad enough to stay inside.
