You realise that to people unaccustomed to PCMR, anything with a GFX card is considered a gaming computer, right? I mean, stuff like that will run the classic MMO/MOBO and many older games, but then so can my father's Celeron tablet.

Is it normal for a 1.6 GHz cpu that boosts to 2.3GHz to run at 2.5GHz?

It also never goes below 2.35GHz.

A bit worried because it seems to get faster and faster every year. Also starting to have issues: My hole computer freezes every 10-15 minutes for a split second. Does not matter what I'm doing either: Playing Beam or NES games on VirtuaNES or watch stuff on YouTube, or even just browsing files... Restarting fixes it for about an hour or two, then it starts to freeze again.

It's a cheap Lenovo laptop, a bit over 3 years old and been running almost all the time, only time it got rest was when the HDD gave up on me(thanks, Win 8.1-for never shutting off the HDD whilst just sitting and doing nothing... And it's the same with Win 10 aswell...)

Starting to feel like I'll have to buy another one soon...

Never thought to check, because it was advertised as 1.6 Ghz with a 2.3turbo and the task manager agrees with it.
Wonder where the task manager got the 2.3 max speed from.

I thought I may have found a T420 that meets my requirements. Unfortunately, after asking the seller for the Type number (It's a 4236-MBG), it turns out it doesn't have Nvidia graphics...
Damn. Looks good apart from that. :(

Finding a T4XX series with the nVidia chipset is quite rare here in the UK, those that do have it are pretty expensive.

There was an i7 model with Nvidia graphics for ~£175 when I first started actively looking for a T420. It sold before I could think about it.

I love the "Aero like" effects in classic shell, but I just wish that you could enable it at the top of the window :(

Lol, I only pulled it up to demonstrate because it's a little hard to see. You know when you right click on the taskbar and click "lock taskbar" I pulled it up to show it, it's kinda hard to see. I obviously don't use it like that xD

Okay so my brother just fucked his perfectly fine Dell Latitude E3400. Overheated in a fucking bed. I guess you don't give a good business grade laptop to a 9 year old. HA.

    Well... I've just bought a T420.
    i5-2540M
    8GB RAM
    500GB HDD
    Nvidia NVS 4200M
    Windows 7 Pro
    Fingerprint reader
    9-cell battery
    Type: 4236-R80

Apparently it has no bios passwords set. :)
    Should arrive on Thursday.

EDIT: How could I forget to mention it also has a 1600x900 screen?

Yeah he doesn't really need a laptop...I just gave it to him so he could play TF2 because I made the mistake of feeling nice... Next time I will definitely give him a desktop (when I trust him, which'll be never)

I think lenovo is still offering free replacement batteries under recall for the T420, when you get it download the tool from lenovo's website and see if your battery is eligible for the recall, they'll send you a new one and let you keep the original one. I did this with my T420, great way to get a brand new battery.
