This is pretty much the problem right here: Like come on, if it's doing this I genuinely think it's enough of an issue to bring up having the ability to hide it. I'm here for the BeamNG related stuff, car discussion and modding discussion. Here we see that there's four perfectly good slots for that taken up with something I consider to be childish and do not desire to see. Problem would be solved by allowing me to ignore and block groups.
I agree on this idea. I mean you should be able to block things you don't want to see. Well its that or shut down these groups and well you guys don't want to see what will come of that decision.
I've solved the problem in a roundabout way by subscribing to threads worth looking at (there are only three or so, unsurprisingly) and almost never looking at any other thread. Will say though that roleplay is actual cancer, roughly on par with jerking it to ponies and being buttmad your fedora and cargo shorts isn't a hit with the ladies. To those who disagree with this, please voice your concern in this thread or by PM so I know who to block, cheers!
I can't disagree, that's why exactly this feature would have sense. I do respect their freedom and them. My example was probably too big, and started something bad, I didn't wanted to, it was just to show that things like this happen here too, it also seems bad for me because they made "gay" word out of brand "BeamNG", would "Beam.NiGga" be fine too? @Zappymouse this isn't solution for me, I really like to help if I can and then new threads wouldn't appear to me. Anyway do really any group of people can be here as they wish? Let's say I'll create group only for white peoples will it be okay? I guess not, but why wouldn't you respect me then? Well nevermind it, OP isn't about this, and I explained before why I'd really appreciate this feture, it would be usefull and would solve RP/groups nonsense forever while making forums more freindly for everybody.
I would love to do this, but there is no way. I love this suggestion because after this we can all cooperate.
There already is an option to ignore another forum user, I do agree that it would be nice to be able to ignore a group or thread as well, even if it is not something you don't like to see on the forum. For example, some may want to ignore Bernd's ETK 1500 SUV thread because they don't want any spoilers. Perhaps also an option to hide group threads you are not a part of?
I'm currently ignoring 200 users at the moment, sort of last night I went through the groups and blanket blocked any and all members of all RP groups, the minecraft and the roblox group. Which is a solution that eliminates 90% of the cancer and 10 year olds. But i'd sooner prefer to just ignore the damn groups themselves.
I definitely think think it's a good idea to have the ability to block groups. Everyone should be able to do what they enjoy, but it's not fair to everyone else if what you enjoy is considered very abrasive by most forum users. If we could block groups, everyone would be happy and get what they want out of the forums. There would probably be considerably less in-fighting as well, which is the reason I've been avoiding the forums lately.
+1 to the idea. And, in addition, perhaps a word-filter blocker, so that future rp threads and other things I am not interested can be filtered out. As for the rest of the community, it's definitely gone downhill but I don't care to elaborate on the issue since complaining gets nothing done.
i bet if we dont fix this problem this forum is going to turn into an dating site soon or else.... something alot worse then its now alot wose with that i mean ALOT WORSE
I wasn't offering an alternative to group ignoring, I was just saying that since you can ignore a user, it would only make sense if you could ignore a group as well.
I think a good idea for the "What's New?" page is for it to be like reddit where you can subscribe and unsubscribe to different subreddits so you can get a personalized page with content you would like to see. So being able to have a tailored "What's New" page seeing only the content you want to see would be a great improvement. I personally wouldn't want to see the Ideas and "Suggestions", "Bug Report", and "Questions and Support" sections and all of the Groups in my "What's New" page.
Please don't turn this into my thread. http://www.beamng.com/threads/closed-has-been-suggested-before-button.29551/ My thread started like this thread.
I don't care that much about the content of the groups (most are just cringe worthy or good for a laugh), but I just don't really know why groups show up in whats new, I think it would be better if they were in "What's new" for members only or just confined to the "Groups" tab all together.
