The mesh needs to be cleaned up further, and it needs some jbeam improvement. And maybe some more suspension improvements by titleguy afterwards. Last but not least default pictures and configs have to be made.
current-gen kia sorento has a 191bhp GDI 2.4L as standard equipment, mid-level trim starts with a 2.0L 240bhp turbo 4cyl, with an optional 3.3L GDI V6 for all trims. so i'd say you wouldn't be far off by giving it a 180bhp engine (though 3 cylinders seems a bit unreasonable, plus that's a big number from a 3 cylinder) EDIT: should note that, while technically a crossover these days, the current-gen dodge durango has a 3.6L V6 as standard, and a 5.7L Hemi as an option SUVs/CUVs, whatever you want to call them, are meant to have body roll. they're not meant to be sportscar sharp. they're meant to have a nice squishy ride that soaks up bumps
The Kia Sorrento is a smaller vehicle than both the X5 and the Durango. In the US at least the base engine is a 300 hp straight six. And crossovers these days are designed with less and less body roll, using stiffer springs and better dampening
i've driven all the above, and they all roll like boats compared to 90% of sports sedans and 100% of full-on sports cars while i think a 6-cylinder would probably be the best base engine, i also think 180bhp should be enough to motivate the vehicle sufficiently.if that's the route you wanna go, i would do it with a NA 4-cylinder. probably 2.3-2.5L capacity, rather than a turbo 3-cylinder. 3-cylinders are generally not as smooth as a 4-cylinder overall, and that's a definite consideration in a luxury vehicle
Well most cars roll like boats if you only compare them to high performance cars. And 180 HP is not worthy of a near 5000 pound vehicle like the X5
@ the last couple posts up there: First of all, ETK isn't American and in Europe nobody uses 2.0+L N/A engines anymore for base models. Almost every "base model" has a small turbocharged 3 or 4 cylinder engine, usually underpowered as hell and struggling with the weight of the car. Secondly, Bernd can correct me on this but I believe the 1500 is sized like the X3 and not the X5. The X3 is smaller and weighs less so also has smaller engines. The X3 in Europe has a 143hp diesel or 184hp petrol (both turbocharged 4 cylinder) engines for the "base" models. The 3 series however nowadays is also available with a 136hp/220nm turbocharged 3 cylinder so it isn't that odd for a "luxury" vehicle based on a BMW to have an engine like that in Europe.
The SUV is going to be available with turbocharged 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engines, although you could remove them if you'd like.
awesome. i suppose that settles the discussion of engines. definitely nice to see a wide variety of engine options in this car too. will the 6-cylinder be a straight-6 or V6, or has that not been decided yet?
The six and four cylinder engines are the same as the ones in the ETK 800 and K-Series. Read above on the engine selection.
sweet! sounds like a solid set with different power outputs to suit different driving styles. i'll be interested to see how they all drive
The name is not final, I just thought about something that should sound bigger than the 800 series, 1XXX could stand for SUVs, 2XXX for vans for example.
I did, that's why I made that post. If the 4 cylinder is just going to have a turbo, you should make it small dispacemen't high output. Sub 300 HP non-diesel engines have no place in a midsized luxury SUV --- Post updated --- 1500 is used heavily by truck makers on light duty versions of the full sized pickup trucks. Considering ETK uses X for its AWD models and it's based on the 800 series you could call it something like the X80 Series or the 800X.
