Wow, I'm thoroughly surprised by that, I haven't seen a running Olds diesel in person in 10 years or better. A friend of mine actually has an '80 C10 that originally had an Olds 350 diesel, but it was replaced in 1987 at the dealership, under warranty, with a normal Olds 350. It's been said that the Olds 350 diesel was the major reason that diesel powered cars never really caught on in the US, People hated the Olds diesels so much they didn't want to bother with diesel's at all after that.
Peterbilt, indeed, there is a lot of internet articles depicting this diesel failure. But one of the major untrue things people go on to communicate, is that those engines are gasoline converted to diesel. This is completly wrong, the engine block is much stronger to deal with the compression ratio, they are so good they are used as street legal gasoline engines with 600hp of more. What they fail was using a diesel fuel filter without water separator, so with the bad diesel sold at this time, water went directly from fuel tank to engine, bending connecting rods. Also the head cylinders bolds were the same as gasoline one, and they were only ten of them for each head, isntead of 17 that would have been fine, so they stretched with compression and even broke, ending in major engine damage. In addition to this, mechanics weren't diesel specialists and repaired engine and replaced the headgasket using the same bolts that were already on the engine, or made oil service with gasoline oil. People also weren't aware that a diesel like that, so poorly designed, had to warm up slowly at idle at least 10 minutes, as the different parts expended with heat not the same way. No, they waited for the glowplug ring to stop then drove their car fast without any attention to this. --- Post updated --- ktheminecraftfan, preset list is not finished but there is at least 10 presets for each body style.

Well, they kind of were "converted", Not like they took a normal Olds 350, But that they were designed on the Olds 350, as it was considered to be the toughest small block that GM had. And while it may be true that people weren't used to diesel engines, By 1982 GM had the 6.2, admittedly they were truck specific, but they were received massively better than any of the Olds based diesels, And while yes, they had they're issues like anything else, they were never associated with the level of terrible-ness anywhere near as much as the 350 diesel was. If I sound confrontational or negative I'm sorry, I don't mean to be, I'm very excited for the Olds's, and It's cool that you're even bothering with the 350 diesel.
I think you can guess some just by the images of the teaser i'm making a quick second one which will show a bit more about what was questionned. Peterbilt, no worries or offense at all, these engines suffered of so many mistakes in their design, that like you said it's a miracle that there are still some of them running today. I red somewhere i can't remember, that GM was so in a hurry to launch these engine after petrol crisis of 1973, that they fired the designer of the engine when he told them it won't be ready before two years. The next one finished the engine quick, and you know the result. To be verified, i really don't remember if i red that or if someone told it to me. I like those engine because they are hated, and also because with the proper reliabililty work, it's possible to reach huge mileage if maintained and driven properly. No revs to the limit, just smooth driving, and it will be okay. re-enforced head gaskets, ARP head bolds, adding a fuel filter from a citroen BX, peugeot 205, improving the glowplug system. All of this can be done easily. Can't wait to restart working on mine, it sleeps in a barn, under dust, but it's okay ATM.

A friend of mine owns a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria Country Squire. The rear tailgate opens down like a pickup truck or it can swing sideways like a door. Could this feature be added to the Regency Wagon?
Whyipaybillz, Yep you're pretty right, fully agree, je suis tout à fait d'accord Powered_By, i don't know if it would possible to do with the same part, the most simple would be to do two parts with different hinge. Also it's a detail but the Station wagon isn't a 98 Regency (C body, long frame). it's based on the B body short frame of the Delta 88 and it's called a Custom Cruiser. --- Post updated --- As i was asked several times how many engine configurations there will be, here they are : - stock 350 ci Oldsmobile L34 engine 170 hp. TH350 Automatic gearbox 3 speeds - stock Diesel 350 ci Oldsmobile LF9 350D engine 125HP. TH350 Automatic gearbox 3 speeds - tuned up 350 ci street legal engine based on the LF9 diesel 550 HP. 4 speeds automatic geabox, no brand (but same look) - same engine but tuned up to 800 HP. Gearboxes are Wip so i don't tell what they will be (and i can't, Synsol are making them and it will be a surprise) - 1400 HP dragster engine. Gearboxes Wip.
Sergent: Is that rust or dirt on the chassis rails in the engine screenshots? I also saw 2 batteries on the fenders.
It's a bit of rust, as often on used cars. But if you look at the Dragster, the paint is new, i made used and restored chassis for all taste. My car frame is covered by superficial rust, and the body is perfect, i tried to duplicate that. But it's not made to be seen so close, when the rad support is here you don't see the frame like that. Also there are two batteries because the Diesel need them, but it could be easy to make only one for gas engine, i thought it would make them start better

It's correct ! it's accessible trough the skin system, "restored chassis". The used is the default one. Of course it doesn't change only the frame but almost all the hidden or underneath parts.
Looking at the pics makes me wonder if Olds produced the RWD 88/98 in the "whale" 1991-1996 bodystyle. Pic related
