    Ha !
Just to tell and before shutting down the damn desktop, after thinking about the fully original work mentionned by VeyronEB:

This is a quick summary, i'll show and explain more things later this week.

All this stuff was a learning process, and one year ago i didn't supposed i'll go that far.
I worked in Video games untill 15 years ago and never did anything in 3D since then.
i had to learn Blender, how to do textures like today, so all about this is having fun in making and learning, trying and redoing. Not imagined a second it will be a released mod.
That's why i never shown anything here, i didn't want to be another cancelled project and was a bit scared by the quality of some mods.

So it was born a trial based upon the Moonhawk Sedan on which i learned to fit a jbeam, see how all this worked.
Then i improved the modelling, the textures for monthes, and went a lot more far in the details. Just for the pleasure of having my car in game.
Something like 6 monthes later i showed it to Ar162B and he immediatly wanted to join and help. I was very glad as you can imagine.
The jbeam was a lot improved, rewritten, and adapted to all actual features of the game.
And as those cars are much bigger than the Moonhawk, and as it's a lot of work to do the finetuning, and Ar162B being student, staff member for a while, and having his own mod to update, i finally did the last improvments to the car deformations. I spent a huge amount of time on it, and now it has been beta tested, it seems to be at least a decent model.

All of that speech to say this is not a from scratch jbeam, but the cars have their own personnality. Deformation, particularly the front end, is not the same at all.
Pretty needed to make those things clear, and all the jbeamers able to do a car or whatever from scratch have my forever admiration.

Also basically, i compared the Moonhawk frame with plans of the real one, and they are almost prettty the same, that's why the Moonhawk Sedan was chosen at the beginning.
Without that the project wouldn't have ever started, that was the ignition spark.

Two garage shots. I've never tried before today.
The car didn't spawn at the proper place but other than that, pretty excited, the garage is so damn good !

You mean the Classic 70'style van ? It's an Ar162B mod on which i did a few things, and it's released, 2nd page of the repo currently. That's why there is so much screenshots about it, people drive around all available maps with it :p

As an owner of a 1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Diesel for quite some years now i cannot exaggerate on how incredibly hyped i am for this! Pictures look like A+ quality.

Eagerly awaiting release. If it has a working tow hitch i will slap on a big trailer to the diesel and drive it until it overheats and dies, just like my own did! ;););)

My hypothesis for why your Olds died while trying to tow a trailer is because of the lack of a transmission intercooler, and the transmission itself likely got too hot and seized up, ultimately internally killing your Delta 88.

Seeing the amber turn signals on your Olds makes me wonder, has your car been imported into France and converted or was it sold sold there originally?

It has a working tow itch, the coolant and brakes thermal works, but we didn't worked on the unreliability of the Diesel for now.

It would be funny to set this up so that if you drive faster than 50 mph on road and more than 80 on highway, more than 5 minutes, it will slowly but surely get head gasket fail.
Trailing with this cars IRL is accelerating the process. Before buying mine, i was adviced i had to ask if it has trailed a caravan or not. No tow hitch on mine, so...
My car has no headgasket of overheating issue at all, it's just used by the mileage (unknown) and had worn out engine mounts and gearbox (because of oil leaks), so it shakes a lot.
So i plan on rebuiding the engine. I like this car very badly. I had very powerfull cars before but this one is so slow and cool, it's quiet. And not noisy at all.

Mr Angry, i don't know that much about the car, but it has GM france plate on the radsupport so i suppose it was french imported at start.
But about the amber lights i thought like you, but a friend told me there were also rear amber lights in states.
And this is true, verified. That why i did them on the mod as well.

Oh no the transmission is fine. It's a TH350 and does have the oil cooler for the transmission and everything, it has the towing package as stock. The reason it died was the trailer was far too heavy, making the engine overheat and one of the heads bust, with the result that compression was being pushed back into the intake manifold. I didn't notice it before it was too late as the 79' doesn't have a temp gauge as standard, only a red warning light that comes on when overheated and that particular light didn't work, but i digress.

When this make it to the game i sure hope the woefully low power of the diesel will be well represented. Around 115 - 125 HP to move that big chunk of iron sure takes patience.

About the amber indicators, my '79 was sold new here in Sweden and has the amber indicators as stock as it was required by law. A friend of mine also has a '79 Diesel Delta 88 but that particular one is imported from the USA and as such has red rear indicators.

EDIT: Here is a picture of it in all it's amber indicator glory.

Raticon : He he fun to discuss about Diesel Oldsmobile engines. The working red light that says "toooo laaaaate my friend" is useless so it wouldn't have changed a lot for your Rip engine.
EDIT: forgot to say, very nice 79'. i've always prefered the 80 because it's mostly child nostalgy having seen one for sale with my father, i dreamed a lot about this car. And i bought the same, with the exact same color.
But the 79 have an interesting style.

I added the temp gauge so that i know it never heat too much, stable 80°C.
As for the engine in game, it has around 125hp on it, the car weights are approximativly good, 1720 kgs for the Delta 88 and 1840 for the Regency (it's given for 1675 and 1825 in some websites).
But the Diesel version were way heavier, 150 kg more, because of the reenforced engine block casting i guess, and the sound reduction that consisted in a thick paste all over the firewall. So i must do this weight addition, mostly on the engine, so that it will be even slower that it is.
The gearbox and rear axle ratios are also the right ones.

As we spoke about the rear lights, the front fenders have working cornering lights (AR162B magic) so that the road is enlightened where you're willing to turn and in the same time announce it to other citizens by a light signal.
It lacks the glowmap though, to be fixed.

There is no way this is happening. I would have NEVER thought that my car, an 86 Olds Custom cruiser, would ever be in a video game. Even crazier, its in my favorite game of all time. What is happening???

Ha ha, pretty hard to find those cars, they are way less represented than their cousins the Chevy Caprice, that are over made in mods for all the GTA series.
There is an older Vista Cruiser in Driver SF, but other than that ...
But you'll have to wait a bit to get it, though if you'd like to get it a bit faster, good quality photos of your car, like the rear door, inner panels, third row of seats and so on, are more than welcome, rear lights outside and inside, etc etc...

Let me know if you need more... The tailgate opens up like a truck gate as well as the more standard barn door style.
