Hello, i was just wondering if anyone knew how i could change the input for an Xbox 360 controller.

I wanted to edit it so i could have my parking brake/handbrake to LB and have activate slo-mo to RB.

    If anyone can help thankyou.

EDIT (06/09/2013) - I only found out today about the patch that changed a couple of things with the inputmaps. I have updated my control layout in this post and in my post a further down the page.

    Original post (08/08/2013)

Here you go. Place the file in: 'C:\Users\*PUT YOUR COMPUTER USERNAME HERE*\AppData\Local\BeamNG\BeamNG-DRIVE-0.3\scripts\client\inputmaps' (minus the quotes) and overwrite the original file. Make sure you make a backup of the original before overwriting. I've uploaded the original just in case.

I made LB trigger the handbrake and RB is now the clutch. But as there is no slow motion toggle (as far as I know), I made Y trigger slow motion and B resume normal speed. Hope that's okay. Make sure you keep a backup of this modified file as it can be overwritten with the original if you update the game. Let me know if you want them changed at all. You could always try editing the buttons yourself by opening up the file with Notepad if you want.

No problem, glad I could help!

Also Masterjoc, I agree with jacko. I'm sure there was a nicer way of phrasing what you wanted to say. Your post came across as arrogant with a superior tone. We're all here to enjoy BeamNG and to help each other, not tell other people what to do. At least not how you went about it anyway.

I put the file in the right place but it is not working for me, it just sets it back to default. Is this because of the new update?

I had some trouble with this, if you are using a wireless controller then it's a different config. This is why i suggest you do to fix this.

    • Force update your game
    • Open the configs in your config folder until you find the wireless one. (Name of the device usually the first sentence inside).
    • Then rename the downloaded config to the one for your device and drop into the config folder.

Now if you do not have a different device and its just not working try force updating your game and drop the config in before launching.

Let me know if this helped.

EDIT (06/09/2013) - I only found out today about the patch that changed a couple of things with the inputmaps. I have updated my control layouts below. I have tested the Wired Xbox 360 versions, but I don't have a Wireless Xbox 360 Controller to test those ones. I am pretty sure they will work though. Do let me know if they don't, and I'll be happy to try and fix them. Send me a PM about it, that way I'll definitely know. I don't always check the forums and may not see a new post in this thread.

    Original post (13/08/2013)

Sorry guys, I forgot to say that the file was for the Wired Xbox 360 Controller. I've uploaded the same layout but for the Wireless Xbox 360 Controller.

Here's another version of the file which is more like what you asked for originally, jacko: The handbrake is now activated by pressing LB and slow motion is activated by pressing and holding RB. Just let go to resume normal speed. I don't have a Wireless Xbox 360 Controller to test that it works, but I'm pretty sure it will.

The first file, version 1, is the same one I uploaded back on the 8th, but this one is for the Wireless Xbox 360 Controller. The second file, version 2, is what I just described above. It is also for the Wireless Xbox 360 Controller.
The other two files are the same, but for the Wired Xbox 360 Controller, in case anyone wants them.

You most likely know this, but just in case anyone doesn't: Once you have downloaded the version you want, delete the text before the letters and numbers and put the file in here -
    C:\Users\*PUT YOUR COMPUTER USERNAME HERE*\AppData\Local\BeamNG\BeamNG-DRIVE-0.3\scripts\client\inputmaps
Or, right click on the BeamNG.drive shortcut, then click 'Properties' and then 'Open File Location'. Open the folder called 'scripts', then 'client' and finally 'inputmaps' and place the file in there.

I've uploaded the original layouts too, in case anyone needs them. Keep a backup of my different layout as it can be replaced with the original layout when you update the game. Or just re-download my layout from this thread if it does get replaced.

Hopefully this covers everything, and let me know if you want anything changed in the layouts.

Aaaah I just don't know what I do wrong. I downloaded the file "028E045E000000000000504944564944.inputmap.cs" Wired Controller Layout 1 and I use a XBOX360 wired controller. I replaced it with the old one and deleted the text with layout 1 before and it just don't work.
There isn't any difference for me. I only want that I can activate timelapse with my controller ;(
    Any help?
    Greetings

Sorry about that, I was unaware until today of a recent patch that changed a couple of things with the inputmaps. I have updated the control layouts in my previous post and they should now work. Let me know if they don't and I'll be happy to try and fix them.

Oh, good! Glad you got it sorted. Sorry I couldn't help you sooner, I have been really busy over the past week and a half and haven't had any time to go on the forums.
