Dynamic Reflections Question

    i was just wondering if 2 cars were next to each other, would dynamic reflections glitch into oblivion because the reflection would infinitely keep reflecting? Have the devs found a way to stop this? And is this why you can't have dynamic reflections on more than one cars, or is it because performance issues?

    No.

    There is only one source of the reflections (This is used a lot in games generally)
    At the moment that source is the active vehicle (Other games uses the camera directly as source)

    We disable reflections on the other vehicles as they would have all the same reflection as the active car, and without frensel that would be very visible.

    May not be 100% accurate*

    In reality, all surfaces are glossy.
    But we have fresnel. Fresnel makes the object appear more glossy when the object is near-parallel to the viewer, and less glossy when it's near-perpendicular to the viewer.
    We do not have that yet, so our cars appear glossy no matter at what angle you see them.

    Makes the car reflect the environment around it.
    (ie. If you drive in a tunnel, you will see the tunnel reflected)

    ON:


    OFF:


    If the option is off, instead if just uses a static image.
    (ie. If you drive in a tunnel, you don't see the tunnel reflected on the car).

    try turning up the draw distance, and just generally cranking up every value and slider to the max.

    huh, well that is strange. as @DeezNutz said, try clearing the cache, or even reinstalling the game. if that doesnt work i cant really help you.

    No, that's not a solution.


    OP, what are your PC Specs?
    There was a user who had the same issue, and he was running the game on a Graphic Card that didn't support Directx11 (which is needed according the game requirements).

    So his game was running in Directx10 compatibility mode. In that mode, some graphical features may not work.

    well all i can say is that i cant wait for the fresnel effect to come!
    somehow the reflections didnt seem right for me and maybe this is the reason.

    well im on a radeon 4770 but when i boot up the game it says dx 11 however i am building a new system soon with a 1060 and i5 6600k
