    Cliff Exploration :
3 hard and 1 almost impossible scenarios testing your offroad skills on the cliff map

Important : This mod uses bnse. It will not work without it, so please make sure it's installed before reporting an issue

This mod features 4 really hard scenarios that will test your offroad skills, your patience and your perseverance. I know these are hard, that's why most of them have functional checkpoints ( you can reset your car at the last checkpoint you went through )

    - Around the coast :
Go around the island, and climb small mounts.
Estimated completion time : 30-40 mins

    - Medium Peaks :
    Climb some higher mounts
Estimated completion time : 30-50 mins

    - The Summit :
Go to the top, then back down
Estimated completion time : 10-20 mins

    - Offroad God
Go around the island, and climb small mounts. Then climb some higher mounts. Then go to the top. Then go back down. Without functionnal checkpoints. Prove you're the true offroad god. ( I never finished it, and I don't expect someone to ever finish it. It's just here to challenge us )
    Estimated completion time : 1h+

    Credit :
    - As usual, the BeamNG dev team for their amazing game and mod support, and for the ferry model used
    - @Scepheo , for creating bnse, the mod which allowed me to put functional checkpoints

Cool! But as you said, ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE!!! :( Maybe the problem is in the number of checkpoints; i think there are too many. Apart from that, it´s very nice. Cheers
    Cheers

The high number of checkpoints is intentional : I wanted to make the hardest scenarios on the forum. Also with this high number of checkpoints you won't believe the feeling of satisfaction you can have when you finish one. These are not meant to be scenarios you install and binge play, but more challenges to complete when you are bored and have 1h to waste.
I made the checkpoints functionnal so it's not too frustrating if you fail, you don't have to start from the beginning (appart from the last scenario... this one is made to be impossible and the person who would finish it would be the most patient, careful and perseverant person I would know )

In answer to a review :
It's kinda weird it does that, it works fine on my side. Here are things you could do to try to fix the problem :
    - Redownload and reinstall Cliff Exploration and bnse ( which you installed fine, you just need to drag it into the mod folder ), maybe download has been corrupted
    - Disable all mods but Cliff Exploration and bnse
    - Clear cache

Also, as the checkpoints are quite big, you maybe need to drive through the center to trigger them.
The easiest way to test if the checkpoints work is by going into the "Around the Coast" scenario, the 1st checkpoint is the closest and fastest to go to

I just started playing this scenario pack, so I have no feedback on the gameplay yet. I did notice one mistake though - you didn't set your blackListActions correctly for BNSE to work with CTRL+R. Take a look at my post here and the updated docs here for more info.

... I'll let you know what I think about the gameplay after I play a little more. :)
    --- Post updated ---
I played the first scenario. My first real attempt (after playing with CTRL+R for a while ;-) ) took 35min. Definitely fun. I think that you made a good choice with the pig. The axle wrap on that thing is treacherous!

I do think that there may be a mistake in your daylight script unfortunately. I didn't look at the code, but I noticed that it did not restart with the scenario. After completing the 35min run I decided to go again... and about 12min later I noticed that the sun was quite low in the sky. Before I knew it the sun had set completely! All told it had probably been an hour since I initially loaded the scenario, but typically you'd want to tie that to "scenario start" or similar so that this wouldn't be an issue.
Thanks and I look forward to playing with this some more.

Thanks you very much for the feedback and the bug reports, I'm glad someone else than me enjoy these hardcore scenarios !

I should have learnt to always play with competitive scenarios enabled, that's the reason why I didn't noticed Ctrl + R didn't worked. I didn't found anything in the documentation about it, so I just looked in one of @Scepheo 's scenario and copy-pasted the blackListActions.
I also took a lot of inspiration (understand : copy-pasted the part that interested me ) from the random tour scenario to create a lua function that reset the tod every time the scenario is reloaded, it should fix the second issue you reported
I hope you don't mind somebody using your code @Scepheo

The bugs should now be fixed, and the update is currently awaiting approval :)

Am I supposed to be able to drive back down from the summit? I can get a good time to the top, but my descent strategy is basically "throw it off the side". :-/ Maybe some hints would be good :)

    Yes it is possible. :)
Throwing it off the cliff and hoping it will still be working to go to the checkpoint might be the fastest strategy, but there's no fun in that :( ( at least for someone with enough gametime in BeamNG to prefer the driving from the crashing )
To bring the car down safely, it took it slowly. I took the less aggressive downhill path ( which is the same that the one I used to climb ), put the D-series in first gear ( for some engine brake ) and pulled the parking brake. Then I did a careful descent stopping the truck with the brake. Also if the truck started to lift wheels, I just let him go for it to not rollover and hope I could stop it later.

Thanks, that's more do-able than I thought it would be. While there are more direct routes, I think that the "less aggressive" route might be the fastest way to the top from your starting point anyway.

On rainy days I often try the off-road God, my time: 2h, 12 min, 34 sec
Time I will never get back

Wow people are actually completing this scenario ;)
It's hard to believe it since you didn't provided any screenshots, and I guess you're not completing it with competitive scenarios enabled, but anyway congrats on your patience and perseverance ! ( or on you high level of boredom which pushed you to complete this scenario, I don't know ;) )
