I need a new computer. I have a crap system from hp with all stock parts. I tried to upgrade it but it didn't go well. So now I need to just get a new one. I assume it is cheaper to build one rather than buy one. I want a rig to be able to get high-medium settings, 60fps, and 1080p. I need it to be a cheap as possible. Could someone make a build list for me? I am awful when it comes to choosing different brands too. So could someone make something like on pcpartpicker.com? I don't need it to look fancy. Just something cheap and that works. I could probably use the same 1TB hard drive from my current HP. I don't really need an ssd, either. Thanks for any help!

I am in the exact situation, and I found this guide to be very helpful: Computer building guide
It includes information about PC building, and some builds that should be good, some are a little pricey, but some are not that bad; around $750.

The link you have posted requests a login when I click on it, which is unfortunate, because I would also like to know what your build is.

Erm, doesn't that build have a graphics bottleneck? Just asking.

750Ti isn't the most powerful card indeed. But it'll handle BeamNG pretty well. Even my R7 240 (used in workstation, i5 2400) can achieve 1080p & 60fps on Gridmap (and stable 30-35 fps on 'heavier' maps).

I'd choose an i3 6100 and a used GTX 960 or something like that.
Or an entire used system. Why not?

Buying used is the best way to get a bang for your buck, while some used parts can be unreliable *cough* AMD R9 280X *cough* most of the time they're reliable as any new parts. You could probably get a Sandy/ Ivy bridge era CPU and motherboard for around 200 bucks on eBay and then you can invest more money into a good graphics card.

Rx480 with a 6600k. Buy ram and a z170 board and your done. Bleeding fast rig for well under a grand.

Wait for the RX 480. 390X performance for $200, excellent for budget builds.

All builds in the guide are outdated, I'm waiting for Polaris to update them with new GPUs (480 in most builds, 1070/80 in the high end ones).

If I keep the same hard drive I use now, do I need a new copy of windows?

If I do this: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/PL22RG + a RX480 + and power supply to meet the power demand, does that work? What kind of performance will I get in beamng?

No, and yes, would be a great build. Should run BeamNG in 1080p high settings at 60+ FPS.

Just remembered, some time ago the CM Hyper 212X came out. It seems to have a little bit better airflow for the same price, and as far as I know it should lower the CPU temerature around a whole 2 degrees!
