Hello ! I watch a Youtubeur named "@CryDev" and in one of his last video, he put a blurred effect which look amazing : (Watch the video for understand what I mean ! ) I have noticed, that this little effect make the game look really realistic, I remenber on GTA IV there was a thing like this name "Blur effect" If you see what I means, and I think it make the game really more beautiful ! I don't know if it would be even possible, but If yes I think it would be a nice thing to have (And the possibility to turn it On or Off) Give your opinions !
Yeah, that really changes a lot, DEVs made concept vid about motion blur long time ago, before SBR4 release, actually in SBR4 going flat-out on ECUSA near Gas station, it looks great. Best looking at 0:28, left side, you can see that trees close to you moves very fast and are a bit blurry, trees in the same place on the screen, but this which are further look more stationary and aren't blurred. Original post: http://www.beamng.com/threads/commu...age-of-beamng-drive.1141/page-506#post-248647 This adds a lot of motion feeling. Well it just looks more natural and smoothly with it ("fluid like"). We have to admit that @CryDev made just astonishing job with camera work to made it feel cinematic actually more brutal and realistic. But this effect properly added gives a lot on it's own. This game really need it ( maybe this could avoid peoples to scream that handling is wrong, because they could see better what they are doing, and DEVs in future wouldn't use tricks in suspension to made it easier to drive on keyboard? IIRC toe tune on rear wheels. so cars can handle sharper turns, because of keyboard steering ), same with Fresnel's effect, which Gabester mentioned in 2012 ( for example here: http://www.beamng.com/threads/development-screenshots-1-closed.130/page-5#post-3392). Motion blur was high priority on To-Do list ~8 months ago : Spoiler: Evidence www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPX2qRQAnBo Look at comment section on YouTube, BeamNG's reply to Kamil, yeah that's me. If you'll dig more, you could find my comment there with some explanations. I think DEVs are aware of it, but they have to overhaul graphics engine before doing this, to not waste time at working on the same thing twice (of course I may be wrong, I'm not programmer and I'm not familiar with it, that's just my guess). But yeah, good point, BeamNG needs this a lot.
I assume you're talking about motion blur? http://www.beamng.com/threads/motion-blur-its-more-important-than-most-think.15386/ I made a thread about it a while ago. Devs never responded, but I still think it's absolutely crucial to the game and the feeling of speed.
Motion blur is still high priority. There were other things needed before starting to work on it, like speeding up the vehicle renderer and etc. We are getting closer to it
The car paint really need the Fresnel effect on the reflections. Also a bit of color shift would be nice. This would really make the car's stand out more and look much more realistic. Also an HDR bloom would be really nice, so when the sun reflects off the car and into the player, it should have a bloom effect.
