Okay. So I was plugged in my PS3 controller and it is a bad controls system. It always picks the same thing. Do you hate this?
I do not use that kind of controller, I use my keyboard. I think it is much easier than a controller. I'm gonna see what it's like using a controller and I will get back to you in an hour or two.
it seems all the Insanegaz videos on youtube were made with using the keyboard for driving. I personally use the mouse for steering, and keyboard for accel/brake. it took some getting used to, but saves on desk space.
How do you use the mouse for steering? i could never get it to work and it always just snapped the steering or made me go the wrong way. Its like trying to steer with a ball that just rolls around everywhere and is uncontrollable. I personally use a thrustmaster t300rs to steer and t3pa pedals.
Nop, I use a logitech Rumblepad 2 which I fully configured with the option menu, very easy and work very well
The trick seems to be to keep the cursor height directly over the top of the vehicle. ie, if Im driving a police car for instance, my cursor hovers right in the middle of the light bar. this gives me a visual reference to see where i need to bring the cursor back to in order to go in a straight line. Before that I made a custom app (well, i hacked some existing apps together) that put a big bright line on the screen (which i was positioning on or above the car). The bright line moved from vertical (steering wheel in middle) and then left or right to about 45 degrees depending on how far I had the mouse. It worked well...
Someone who has been using PS3/PS4 controllers on PC for years here. For your PS3 controller to work on PC properly you'll need DS3 tool (renamed to MotionInJoy). Download BetterDS3 as well if you don't want to give an 'unknown' program constant internet connection. I'm not sure how this is for the PS3 controller, but at least for the PS4 controller you'll have to start the tool BEFORE you start BeamNG. Otherwise you will have double input, meaning that every button you press will be instantly pressed twice (like turning your hazard lights both on and off) or do two different things (like respawning and turning on your right indicator). I guess this is because the devs wanted the controllers to work without any 3rd party applications as well (no idea how that's even possible without official drivers. But hey, it works ), and were clever enough to disable the real PS3/PS4 controller input if any xbox controllers are found, but decided not to let the game check while already running (confirmation or the actual answer pls? ). Also, (at least) without InputMapper (the PS4 tool) turned on, the Y-axis is inverted... (just WHY??? It's normal with the tool turned on, but with the tool turned on after the game is launched the inverted axis is preferred again, even though the controls should be cancelling eachother???) tl;dr: download MotionInJoy and BetterDS3 for PS3 controllers and MotionJoy for PS4 controllers. Be sure to turn the tools on before launching BeamNG. Finally, what do you actually mean with "It always picks the same thing."?
