The CPU is old, which doesn't always mean it's bad, but in this case it's also slow compared to the current CPU architectures.. Your need a new mainboard for the new CPU.. The 5830 isn't horrible. I would upgrade the mainboard and CPU first without a doubt. Get an 8 GB DDR3 RAM kit too. (2x4GB)

I recommend a modular design for cable management. Storage: 8 (Good amount, but 1TB is my suggested minimum) Overall: 5/10 The biggest hits on your system are its age. The motherboard is too old to be upgraded to modern components. Your CPU is not suited for gaming, your graphics card is OK but its aging. My opinion is that it's time for a good upgrade. Keeping your graphics card, you could build a system with an Intel i7-4790 chip for about $600 - $700 (conservative figure based on pretty average parts) Hope this helps
What? No. Don't get an i7 for gaming. An unlocked i5 is $100 cheaper. Also, you can build an entire PC with an entry level i5 and R9 380 for $600.
True, I built my PC for just over $600 (reused my GPU). I guess it's up to preference and what you're willing to spend. Remember, the entry level i5's or i7's are not processor's to be that proud of. The i5 4690K is a really solid chip; we have them in my PC Hardware class. I didn't like it because the most we could overclock them to was 4.13 GHz with Hyper 212 Evo's before the fans were just pinned and running at 70 Celcius. Also should be mentioned you only get 4-Cores and 4 threads. 8 Threads is a very helpful thing for games other than BeamNG and especially for things like video rendering. On the 'entry level' part of your post, the entry level i5 and i7 chips are not fantastic performers. Spend the extra money on the i5 4690K or i7 4790K; both are good gamers and make BeamNG a breeze.
Most of your post is completely wrong. You don't need 8 threads for gaming. It will barely make a difference in modern games, most older games (<2012) won't use them at all. An entry level i5 is a great CPU - literally the same chip as a K, just clocked lower. 90% of games are GPU bound. An i5-6400 won't bottleneck even a 980Ti for most games. Also, I can confirm the 4690K is a great CPU because I have one, but it's outdated. Get Skylake instead. And btw, there's no such thing as an entry level i7.
Well rate this.. i7 5820k, gtx 970, corsair cx750m, and 16gb of some corsair ram. and a case, and motherboard. and a monitor.
Spent too much on the CPU. Should've gone for an i5 and a 980 Ti instead. PSU isn't great, a lower wattage 80+ Gold EVGA would be better.
