Press J to pause the physic and see if you get an FPS boost.
If you get a lot of FPS boost, you should consider upgrading to a faster CPU.

Your graphic card doesn't seems much powerful, a GTX 560 and up would be better

Do you have a graphics card? A dedicate graphics card would certainly be an upgrade from on board graphics. And you can get one within your 500W power supply restriction.

I have a GT640, and it lags also. you wont be able to run this game at medium-high setting on maps like DRI etc, unless you have a decent GTX serie card.

    Oops.

That's fairly weak. I agree with Nadeox1, GTX 560 is a good place to start looking, get better if you can afford it.

Well that pretty much destroys the game for me.

The techdemo ran fine, bought the actual game today and it is WAY too jerky to even bother trying.

Sorry but I'm 47, I got into PC games when a DX4 100Mhz with 4 MB was considered fast, my current machine is a quad-core 3.8 GIGAhertz, it's got 4 gigabyte of RAM, some Radeon card for games and is less than 4 months old - but this is utterly unplayable.

The PC I had before this one AND the one before that could run Richard Burns Rally at full res, everything turned up and ran smooth as silk. With this game on a more powerful PC I can't even get out the parking lot without it jerking and freezing up. Not to mention it doesn't work with a joystick and no, I'm not messing about with mapping files - I have a life, dammit.

I support what you're doing and keep the 15 bux - but no, I'm NOT going down the "gotta get a faster video card" route for this or anything else. I gave up on that silliness at least 15 years ago.

(and yeah, Richard Burns Rally, which must be 10 years old or more by now, has pretty good physics and realistic crashes, compared to most games anyway. And you can play it on a machine with less than half the spec of my current one, so there's that?)

Love the concept, love what you're trying to do, pity you had to go down the eye-candy route. And if it's REALLY the case that your physics engine is too much for my PC then there's something very seriously wrong with your physics engine then, isn't there?

Ha. I just did this. Went from 130-150 to 220...
But for some reason, when I put shadows on normal, and go on the Small Island map, my fps goes to like 30-50.

    PC Specs:

    i5-3570k @ 4.2GHz
    AMD Radeon HD6950
    8GB RAM

I keep reminding myself that this is only Alpha. :p

    No.

If this thing cannot be run on a fairly new and powerful machine purchased this year then there's something very, very wrong with it.

I went through that kind of stupidity for years with Microsoft Flight Simulator, where every new edition required the PCs that didn't actually exist yet but maybe in a couple of years huh?

No. I'm not going to chase after my own tail, throwing money at hardware to make this thing work. I can think of all sorts of things I'd rather spend money on, such as a testing tank so I don't have to launch my boat to start it, a new inlet manifold for my vintage bike, take my wife on holiday.. All sorts of things - throwing money at a computer that already works isn't one of them and isn't going to happen.

That's for prepubescent boys who wave their PC specs around like a dick-waving competition. I just want to play the game; if the game is still broken and doesn't work on normal hardware, let me know when it's fixed?

    Thanks

    A.

This is a physics simulation, so it requires as much power as you can get. But it also runs on cheaper computers. People with 5+ years old CPU still being able to play with decent FPS. If you can't run this then you have a PC from the stone age. Do you want all game developers to stick to old hardware and make crappy looking games forever so that you can play? NO WAY.

Post the PC specs, let's see why it doesn't run.

    AMD FX 4300 Quad-Core 3.80 Ghz

    4.00 GB RAM

    Windows Home 64 bit

Display Adaptor AMD Radeon HD 7770

The main drive is a 180 SSD, with a 1 TB HDD as D:/

It was purchased in February this year from http://pcimage.com.my/

I primarily use my PC for work (self employed) but when discussing the video card said yes, stick something suitable for games in there.

(Many years ago, living in the UK, I used to happily build my own PCs. I got tired of that tail-chasing and bought a MK1 X-Box before moving to Malaysia. I'm no longer interersted in upgrading as a hobby, I just want to play the thing. My X-Box died last year, I will probably get a new Playstation rather than throw money at a PC)

WOW thats a good amount of fps ! i get 15-20 on lowest settings :( im Thinking do I get 8gb of ram then ? and then if that dont work get a new graphic card ?

    - - - Updated - - -

I understand what your saying, but 1 have you tried turning down the settings and stuff? as the techdemo worked try "ctrl o " and put all the setting on lowest apart from the shadow one as it makes my pc crash not sure about yours though then turn off ths ssao thing, to do that you have to go to the start menu and press the option tile and its on the left...

It's most likely that your CPU is the limiting factor so more ram won't do you any good.

Strangely, with everything turned down, it seems even more jerky, or maybe an illusion as trees and thing appear as you get close. Vomity.

In general it seems to be a memory issue, as there's periods it's fine, then it stutters like it's reading from the drive or something. Impacts or other such things create a pause while it goes off to get the data or something.

    Unplayable on this machine.

I tried doing that pause thing that someone said and it goes up by 5-10 fps, so Is that still my CPU ? I want to get 8GB ram any way as mine is limiting other games too XD but Im still unsure about getting a new graphic card as mine is 1gb but im no expert on Graphic cards so not sure :/

Have a look at this buddy as i was the same, worked nicely on techdemo but got the game 5 fps, did some changes and im now getting around 20-25 fps

    Cheers.

Reasonably viewing from outside the car, not that I EVER, EVER play driving games like that.

Still somewhat jerky from within. Which setting is for the drawing distance? The trees suddenly appearing is.. unpleasant.

Ohwait, my mistake. I misread your specs. Your GPU is a 'web browsing' grade GPU, essentially, so it won't do well in video games at all.
