A quicker and less static educing way would be to get a flat blade screw driver carefully slide it into the slot aimed against the back of said slot and use it to break the end out.

I have a old socket 478 hyperthreaded Pentium 4 at 3.2Ghz, I'm curious as to how it would run BeamNG with the 512 ATI Radeon 9600 I have, anyone else be interested in the results if I try?

I think the point is that consoles are optimised just for gaming. PCs? For everything, so they can do everything equally good. But terribly.
At least I think that that's the point.
EDIT: I know that this is referring to an old post.

Not exactly. The difference is in software.

When you develop for consoles, you have one device. There's only one possible hardware configuration, and you know that hardware very well and can test on it. You develop for PS4, it runs on PS4, that's it.

PC, you have thousands of different configurations with entirely different architectures. You don't know what the user will have, it could be anything from Intel graphics to SLI 980Ti. You cannot possibly test on all the hardware your software needs to run on, so you don't know the hardware very well either. A compromise must be made between performance and compatibility.

Consoles have lower level graphics APIs that are made to work specifically on the console's chipset - and that's it. A PC graphics API has to work on all kinds of hardware, Nvidia, AMD, Intel, older hardware, future hardware. There's less room for hardware-specific optimisation there.

this is a cop out excuse they have been feeding us for years. thousands of possibilities sure, but in reality there are a handful of cpus to choose from and a handful of gpus. "we cant test everything and there are thousands of cpu and gpu architectures to worry about". no there are not. i dont care how "difficult" it is so dont bother trying to educate me. if they have to throw everything out and start over fine, but there is no reason we cant have an API that gets us damn near console efficiency no matter what hardware we use. its not 1996 anymore.
EDIT: i get you guys are more lenient on the software devolopers at this point but from where i stand only 1 of 2 things can and are happening. the guys programming these APIs are displaying GROSS incompetence, or its a conspiracy to keep consoles relevant and pc hardware flying off the shelves every upgrade cycle. my pc should last another 5 years in console dev time but ill be lucky for 18 months.
EDIT 2 im not done yet.
another reason the gaming industry is a scam being milked is GTA5 and this example extends to most games. i need a hi end pc to max a game that's lead development platform is 11 years old? but hey their trying their best right? surly this isnt a money issue...lol.

you know, you seem to be so certain you know better, so why don't you go ahead and make your own API that's does all this

guess what, you can't, because you're talking out your ass, there most certainly IS thousands of different combinations possible, just because something isn't sold new anymore doesn't mean it's not a valid option to be used on a computer

on another topic, ups is a fucking master troll: a few moments ago a UPS truck pulled up in front of my house, naturally i got excited as my 750 ti is supposed to be here today, then the drive walks to the house on the other side of the street, no ones home i guess as they walk back to the truck with the package, put it back in the back, get on their little pda thing or whatever to note that, then they start the truck up and drive away

    just, ugh

Well, I don't think anybody here has any really reliable sources. What makes me hold with BlueScreens explanation is two things though: 1.: It's plausible. Who would believe any of it otherwise? 2.: It has a positive touch to it. I think amarks240 is disqualified for my part just for his negativity, I have decided to think more positive in the future.
That's ridiculous. If he was a normal person, he would have given it to a neighbor. Well, seems like he's a total retard... Positivity kicks back in at this point.

Thats the norm in europe, unless its signed delivery they take it to the neighbour and then stick a note through your door to say where it was left.

Some do and some don't from what I've seen. Dunno if it's down to the driver or delivery type, but I've had slips from Royal Mail before saying "you were out" or something, saying to go to the local collection centre.

    In BlueScreen we trust.

On another topic, sadly it would appear that my PS/2 has a dead planar *motherboard* making it a very nice paper weight.

Yes, it's way more economic like that, and really, why wouldn't you do that anyway?
BlueScreen is computer, BlueScreen is hardware.
Also, why does everybody here have a fancy paperweight? I have to look if my dad gives me one of his old wrecked Athlons.

Dead GPU's are the best paperweights.

Lol OK buddy keep eating the press releases like a good little boy. When I talk out of my ass it's like you talking out of your mouth. Have fun playing mine sweeper on your 750ti. I remember buying my first graphics card with mommies allowance. And people like me are why they have to develop in the first place. If everyone was like you we would still be playing counterstrike 1.5 while the devs count their money. Innovate or make excuses. No in between. And I'm the bad guy for saying make better software while they say buy better hardware. What a joke.
