I like both the new Mustang and the Focus RS. What is you guy's opinion on used police cars? @Potato (you're the one that bought a used Crown Vic right?) I may be able to pick up a Tarus SHO interceptor for $10k. That's a ~370hp full-size sedan with AWD. If I just want a used SHO (not police, has leather and electronics package. Reverse sensors, stuff like that.) it's $14k, so a bit out of my price range.
Eh, it really depends on how much it's trickled down through owners after police use. I say stay away from them straight from the auction if you're not very mechanically inclined or you're afraid to get your hands dirty. But once they've been passed through a few civilian or, even better, dealer's hands they're about like any other used car. I wouldn't rule any of them out just because they're ex-police. Just remember they've probably been beaten on, and test drive and inspect them thoroughly. Also make damn sure the water pump isn't worn out. From what I've heard the interceptors with the more powerful engine (can't ever remember the displacement) are wicked fast. I'd like to drive one.
The SHO has a twin turbo 3.5L V6 that outputs 365hp at 5500rpm paired with a 6-speed automatic. It's 0-60 time is 5.1 seconds. AWD The police interceptor is similar, with options being a ?hp 3.5L V6, a 305hp 3.7L V6, or a turbocharged 365hp 3.5L V6 depending on the year it looks like. Depending on the year it was either FWD or AWD, with the turbocharged and 3.7L always being AWD but the 3.5L turning into a FWD. Also available, but rare, is a 2.0L I4 with 240hp and FWD. The twin turbo v6 carries the interceptor to 60mph in 5.8 seconds and 100mph in 14.8. Another detail is the suspension. The SHO is designed for cruising and has rather soft suspension. The Interceptor is obviously built for jumping curbs and so has a bit of a stiff ride to it. It's also rated for a 75mph rear impact, so that's interesting. Many also have class two ballistic protection in the doors, which means you should be safe from most handguns and small rifles. Also, the shifter was moved to the steering column for the Interceptor, and the interior is only cloth, not leather like in the SHO. There is also less legroom. The undercover version has leather and steel trim like the SHO, but the shifter is still on the steering column. All in all I think I would rather have the SHO as they would be less worn, come with a tech package and leather standard, and have a better ride, but the SHO is about $15k and the Interceptor is $10k.
For what it's worth, the value of the interceptors should come down in the next few years as more and more police departments sell them off and flood the market.
Killed off the scion brand. Other manufacturers should follow suit. I always get a kick out of the Acura owners here who rebadge their Integra with the H emblem, but don't blame them.
Probably. There is also a (small) chance they'll let Subaru be the only one to produce the platform with the BRZ.
if you want a super heavy sedan go for it, but 10k is a lot for a cop car period. i feel like you could get something faster and nicer for the money but if your dead set on the Taurus its probably a good option. if the car weighed 3200 it would be a missile.
I am going to build this as soon as I get enough money and free time to do it. Am busy saving up for it right now. I absolutely love it but I cannot decide on a color. Also comes with detachable hardtop. Thoughts? P.s. Sorry for the amount of pictures :\
Well, It uses most parts from a Citroën 2CV and the styling is based on cars from the 30's, so the lights make sense, I suppose. The hardtop has gullwing doors though!!! I'm thinking of the dark green I put as my profile picture. Me thinks it looks badass
Oh TEKNO you are naughty. Also: https://www.facebook.com/TeknoPerformance/videos/vb.195127753917527/929463350483960/?type=2&theater
Saw some interesting cars tonight. First an old lady in an immaculate purple Chevy SSR, then an actual VW Phaeton. First Phaeton I've ever seen in person, too.
I've seen two they are very subtle cars, if it wasn't for the rear end design I would have probably not noticed it was a Phaeton.
I saw an accord areodeck today its an once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to see one in person since they are incredibly rare. it is also New Zealand new.
