Or do they plan on keeping it only for cars that would normally be raced or used for off-roading? I feel like the burnside would actually make a good offroader with raised suspension and a welded diff, and the t-series and pigeon would be even more fun to mess with.
See. This tuning menu and or system is very early in development. I think every car gets the system in some time but it still needs some work. Atm only a few cars have it especially the ones for racing and rally like the covet sunburst or the pessimas
the rear suspension on the semi and pigeon can be safely raised but the front seems to explode on the semi if you mess with it and on the pigeon it messes with the alignment... you can always do it yourself... the tuning system even in its early stages works well for many things redline, ratios psi etc it all comes down to how well the car is built the burnside for example has rather weak links/springs and with a slight boost of power a hard launch with drag tyres messes things up... but hey old yank tank what can you expect
It's not really about how well it's build but how stable it is. Any car in Beam is usually only a few odd changes away from downright instability, I myself will not use this feature at all on my RaceCar, I have separated parts for this kind of thing.I'm not supporting this feature simply because the suspension it's self is far too touchy and players will often run into instant explosive results on spawn, getting gear ratios that are not dumb is very hard and requires a couple of testing hours and I already have 4 transmissions for different tracks in BeamNG. Clutch torque, redline, diff setup, and engine specs also cause problems if changed very quickly, so again at this point I can say that it's just not worth supporting it in the case of my car as a whole, simply because it's just about as close to the fine line of general stability as you can get. The covet suspension is a good example of a not so stable one, it doesn't take much to bend the parts of it's suspension system and get some unnatural toe as a result. Mostly on the rally covet I see this.
i can gchange many of the bits just fine nothing messes things up making different trans is just silly i've mode almost everything a variable and its stable
The reason why you can only tune certain suspension varients in the game is because those are the only kinds of suspensions that can be tuned. Go out to your car right now and try to adjust the dampering and ride hight... You can't. Most factory suspensions can only be adjusted enough to correct inacuacies in the tracking and handling. Racing and offroad suspensions let you adjust more things for different circumstances and purposes, and as such, those are the kinds of suspensions that you can tune (more) in the game.
no I mean try doing small stress tests on the covet by simply driving it on not so pristine roads.. it's not very good for some reason. Maybe it's just my camera mod I made but I don't see how my camera is destroying the suspension and no anything else.
i drove it over the offroad section and its fine there may be small changes in alignment but being full soft body its not gonna be better than stock its just like real life eg the bolide DOES not like being thrashed and the floaty sods deal with bumps nicely
I mean unrealistic changes in alignment, something is odd about the covet's suspension anyway, I tried to make a very sporty aftermarket style suspension and it's hard to do that without the whole car being unstable, like the hood popping and fenders bellowing out under braking.
that sounds like something else is going on the most damage i can do with a silly suspention is bottom it out and break the mounts (BOLIDE) or break the steering because theres too much power although i have noticed of all the cars the covet is the least stable in terms of grip (in awd form it is real twitchy) but nothing like what you said on flat ground, only after a jump or some offroading does things get silly
But in real life you would be able to get different suspension probably, but cars like the burnside and pigeon only have one option that can't be tuned.
The only way for those vehicles to have a suspension that could be tuned is with custom one-off fabrication, no company would ever offer an aftermarket kit for those kinds of cars. All of the racing and offroad vehicles that have adjustable suspension in the game have real world analogies that do in fact have readily available kits to improve suspension. Whether the dev team want's to add custom suspension for those cars is up to them, but it would be a little unrealistic (A little less so for the burnside).
But it would still be possible to do, extremely expensive but still possible, so why not? I'd imagine that the stanced pessima isn't something that would have a readily available kit but it exists, and the SBR4 which is something I could easily see having a race version doesn't have adjustable suspension either.
I'm not saying that I don't think it's a good idea, I'm just telling you why the devs only allowed some vehicles to have it. The leadsled is a (albeit period correct) custom car with obviously custom suspension, but it isn't a racing version, so they didn't give it an adjustable racing suspension. It's not like there's a reason not to add a racing version though, look at the hudson hornet. They just didn't choose to at this time.
Your first posts made it seem like you were against them having tunable suspension, and honestly I have pretty much no knowledge of how suspension tuning works in real life.
It's pretty simple on most parts that you would find, no more complicated than messing with any other mechanical part on a car. And no, I'm not ragging on you, I'm just saying why they don't let you on every car. As long as it's realistic I'm all for it lol. Imagine a stock car burnside or track T75 with it.
It is twitchy because the suspention isn't tuned for power I'm the rear so proper toe setup isn't there and it's not really strong enough for awd most the time.. as front wheel drive it's normal to have front toe out (wheels point away from each other towards front of the tire) so that under power they perform with optimal toe in or nutual toe for strieght line stabillity. But I doubt the rear has much or even nearly enough toe in for the rear or that the front wouldn't have too much toe out if you just intreduced sudden power in the rear
