It'd be cool if they added in the feature to open the doors/hood/trunk of cars just by clicking them with your mouse.

@Arne Hurnik And offcourse if my father comes in my room with the keys of a convertible sports car (which is slightly better than electric car that dad plans to buy to himself in a few years) "nothing" can make me stay inside my room

you now have the node grabbing feature so I guess you can now rip doors off cars.

Like gabester said, if you wanna play "car life", just go to a local dealership and they'll let you open doors and mess with the hood etc.
This is a reallistic game where doors don't magically open from nowhere.

How do you suppose that's any different from the magically turning steering wheel?

The thing is, that's because theres no driver simulation, since that would be unreallistic on its own (hard to make collisions etc. work)
Stuff like doors opening would require the devs to program stuff (hydros etc) that would not have a real life equivalent (like automatically opening doors, in most cars at least). The steering wheel movement is the same as it would be in real life.

I think it's time for Motörhead - Ace Of Spades...
A roadster? Oh mah gawd what would I do so my parents buy a last-gen Miata or a BMW 3-series convertible. But well... Ain't got the money for that, so 1 1/2 years ago we bought this:
We have a two-door though, so that thing's no good either...

I usually don't respond to this kind of posts, but you are wrong and it actually wouldn't be that difficult and it would be realistic (becouse we'll have now node-grabber) "just" add function to doors' handles that when you grab them and move outside a little it unlock doors, meanwhile they'd move freely and then if you put force outward it will open doors as much as you want, inward and it will hook again and close doors just like in real life. No need for hydros to open them with some kind of "God force" which will keep it open, node grabber would just simulate human in this case, and would be more realistic than what we actually see now for example in Vanster. Only problem is to made it open/close-able, but for this DEV team it shoudn't be a big deal. Or alternative "only in garage option" combinations of what we see for example in mentioned before Vanster's back doors system and clickable handles ( just making them open/close with mouse click in proper spot which would replace clicking on keyboard assigned key ), would work like in all another games that have this feature. Not that I wanna this option, for me it's useless and not worth implementing at this stage - waste of time while there are many more important features to-do ( but in far future why not? ), just saying that it's possible, and would be more realistic than what we have now. Sorry for my English I just wrote it very fast, hope you understand what I mean.

I think today is a good example of why secrecy is important. Tdev went and stated that a new version was almost complete, and gave a potential release time. Even though he specifically said no promises were being made, the community has gone into a frenzy with "update when?" and a bunch of other useless discourse. I think that being kept in the dark is good, but also the fact that it's been over a month since any update has also fueled this insanity. An update is always in the works, and as usual it will come when it is ready. Patience is key, as a game can;t be made over night. Stop spamming threads with "update when?" and just savior the tension before we get some new content.

I see what your point is, it would be cool to have an "unlock" feature, and it would be more reallistic. The drag feature will open up alot of new possibilities (no pun intended)

Couldn't they just universally program something in the LUA for a command to open/ close doors using the hinges rotation? Or something along those lines.

Right and wrong at once. Yeah it's true some users started posting annoying posts about release time, but we can't look only at them. They are far less than 1% of BeamNG community. Rest understood tdev correctly, and still wait in patience. But we feel better when we see what's going on, and that release might be very soon, and that they work as usually. I suppose that most of this users who still spam about release time are kids and that's what you'll always see not only on this forum but everywhere, you can't get rid of them, so why more mature part (which is way way bigger) have to be "punished" becouse of them? DEVs try to be nice for them too and that's a mistake, becouse they become a bit angry of this misunderstandings and bashing, then trys to explain again and again, and it makes them feel like it's not worth to post informations like this. They have to learn one thing - "best reaction for an idiot is (in this case) no reaction". Just ignore them, even if you know that they are customers, like we all. Ofcourse most of things have to be "kept in the dark" as you said, that's also making hype. But some things like wide-body covet screen posted by Gabster or information that it's being close to release shoud be shown, so we can prepare, you know, taking holiday in job, not going to school this day, buying 2x6-pack of beer, canceling all meetings and celebrating new update with girlfriend. Yup, having everything what's made shown before release would be kinda boring, ( Obvious that it's never going to happen, and that's damn good ) I mean lack of "surprise" effect when you read devblog. It always amaze me when I read all this things which I don't always understand becouse some are technical (I mean some bugfixes, new features like "multi dae" UV maping, normal maps etc. - actually I know what that mean now, but in past) and I always feel so damn happy and hyped when I read it while new version is downloading.

Exactly, its sad that the community resorts to acting like a spoiled kid in a grocery store when their parents say they can 'maybe' get a candy today. The update is on its way and will come soon, we just gotta be patient; I'm sure the devs want to release the update, but releasing a product update that may have bugs or nonfunctional new content is not a good business strategy, besides we should want the devs to give us the best content possible, not half finished like oh-so many games nowadays.

Yes. Some people were showing their frustration and losing hope, while others were telling people to stay patient just like they do now. We even saw some nastier things directed at the devs than what we get these days. Even though there were more mature users, the devs had previously been even more in touch with the community (look at the earliest pages on in-development vehicle threads and notice how often gabester replied to people and gave info), and every one knew this one was going to be huge, people still got reaaal impatient.

In response we saw mythbuster and a few other modders release the "community pre-race update". Those of us who were active here at the time learned to just sit back and wait for the devs to give us something. Back then we got more dev blogs and even the experimental version to try to tame the masses. It paid off though. Most of the older users here are still basking in the monthly updates (with new cars every time!) that we have now. Just try to remember that the longer it is between updates, the more awesome they get.

I'm always occupied with doing many things in BeamNG I don't really pay attention to when the updates happen. It will be one day I wake up and steam is updating BeamNG again. Then I will look over what the devs have added, test it out, and go back to whatever I was doing before it updated.

I bought the game shortly after release, back in 2013. This was before they had the auto updater, and I was still new to PC gaming, so I had no idea how to update the game or even where to go to update it. back then, all I knew was steam. So anyways, I go on like that for 6 or so months, and finally decide to check back into the forums to see what was going on. And a week or so after I bought the game, they added the auto updater, moonhawk as well as a bunch of other stuff that I had missed out on. I had essentially been playing the tech demo for 6 months. After that, we got word of the pre race update which was being worked on. I was pretty stoked, as I felt that would bring about a whole bunch of new stuff to the game. But I don't think we ever got the pre race update. It was a strange time, and I was waiting and waiting, an update came out that changed the graphics a bunch, but that still wasn't the pre race update, and more updates kept coming out adding content and other things, but no official pre race update. I kind of feel like the pre race update just dissolved into a bunch of smaller updates, each containing physics changes, map changes and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I'd love to see a history of Beamng and it's updates
