Teslas cost more than quadros although might not really count

Teslas are used for Server spec CFD calculations if I am not mistaken...

Essentially the most power NVIdia can muster thrown on a single card, but without any display output.
    Pure CUDA/Compute Power houses.

Except I doubt you have anything that can make use of them. Very little does use them.

If you had a 40 Tflops server what would you use it for, I doubt gaming I mean it would be something like CFD on steroids or something...

You are missing my point. You need software that can specifically leverage CUDA acceleration, or OpenCL. There is little of this about.

Yes you could calculate fluid dynamics, but a home user is totally doing that...

Made for workstations - rendering, encoding, that kind of stuff. If you're gaming it's no better than a 980Ti. But yes, it is very damn good at what it does.

I really ask myself if there are even real borders between a normal gaming PC, a workstation and a super-computer. And why are the changes in price not linear, but seem to get higher stepwise.

Probably never man, its a massive dream to have something that powerful but when it comes down to it really....its not usable, its the Jayztwocents "Need vs Want" argument...

And veeeery expensive. Btw, what kind of FPS are you getting?
EDIT: Just saw someone on facebook with a PC with dual Xeons and 128GB of RAM.
EDIT 2: He has dual R9 280Xs though.

About 110fps on the grid test map but on SOME maps down to about 40fps if I tweak the settings I can get 60fps depends on settings really..

Ah, alright. I think your GPU might even be the bottleneck, tough it's weird to say that about a 980Ti...

Yeah I know, but I think its the maps with massive vegetation on it that cause the problem, I may eventually get 2 GTX980Tis in my computer :) make it that more powerful the Titans are for the people like John "TotalBiscuit" Bain with more money than sense...

    What is sense?
Also, vegetation can bring every card down. And if that's not enough, try super high resolution and Car_Killer's nice graphics pack. Looks photorealistic, but it's as if you wanted to run real life on your PC...
