my fps is wrong

    well i was looking for how many fpses my game is running on i went to debug mode ans saw that it was only 25 fps and then i lowerd my video options and tryed it again it still said 25fps then i took it all the way and lowed everything (while it had significant improvement on the performance) it still said 25 fps is this some sort of bug or am i missing something here?

    did you enable Vsync?

    that ties your FPS down to the refresh rate of your monitor, and if you have anything but a CRT screen you have literally no reason to have it on

    Your graphics card is not the issue, the issue is the CPU. It simply isn't fast enough to calculate more, therefore you have lower FPS. You can try Ibishu Covet and see, if you have any higher fps, as it's easier on the CPU (I have about 5 fps more with Ibishu than anything else). Also, Vsync has a point on LCDs. It prevents screen tearing and has nothing to do with the monitor technology. Even if he had it on, he would be limited to 30 or 60fps, not 25.

    to be fair the cpu utilization is really bad 30-40 so as the gpu 30-40, but on modded maps i get higher gpu usage and high fps

    That's how the game is right now. My CPU is only at 70% and it never goes higher. Try measuring the fps in Menu before you load the map and in game. If you have higher FPS in menu, than your CPU is the bottleneck, as in menu there is no physics to be calculated I think. If it's the same, then it's both or the GPU. For example, I get 70 FPS in the menu and 30 FPS in game. Therefore my CPU is too slow, even if it's not always at 100%.

    that depends on gpu usage, in menu I'm not sure but I think 50-70 fps while depending on maps dry rock 30-50, test map 50-100 depending on car, modded maps 70+ all the time,n-labs doesn't go lower than 150, but for some reason it still lags on so much. THIS GAME HAS HORRIBLE GPU AND CPU UTILIZATION. 30 gpu and 30 cpu usage.

    I get 80fps with only 3.7GHZ cpu and 1GB gfx. :/

    Do you mind posting a screenshot of your game with FPS shown and your Speccy or something like that, where I can see your specs? Because you might have a quadcore. The graphics card memory is not the thing that makes it powerful, it's the gpu cores, so even 1GB card can be much more powerful than some 2GB cards.

    but what im saying is i can see the fps drop (the game gets slow) but the fps shown doesnt change

    Try using something like Fraps to measure the FPS. But if the FPS stays the same and the game feels slower than it would be with that FPS then that's really the CPU processing the physics too slow.

    You are looking at the wrong fps meter. The one that shows the actual fps is in the bottom right. The one in the top right is just to show how fast the physics are running. So changing the graphics will not make the physics faster. But if you look in the bottom right your fps does in fact change. There are no cpu based options in this game because it isn't really possible to do so. So you will be stuck with the cpu calculations running at 25fps, which is in fact just fine.

    I am surprised no one has pointed this out yet.

    but it says the the fps is 1840 in the bottom...

    Yes, that is the one at the bottom of the screen. Its the one in the bottom right under the graphs that you want to look at for the actual visible fps.if you look at the screenshots that appears to be accurate.

    I use Vsync at 60 FPS so that my GPU don't have to work to give me more than 60 FPS, there is no point in getting over that, you can't tell a difference anyway.
    So saying that there is no reason to use Vsync, may be wrong in some cases, because it saves you money, lowers the heat generated by the GPU and gives the card a longer lifespan.

    This is not true. Image tearing occurs on any monitor. In Layman's terms, the graphics card is drawing images too quickly for the monitor to refresh and display. V-Sync waits for the monitor cycle to fully complete before showing the image.

    V-sync is one of those things that you don't know that you need until you try.

    Screen tearing:
    This depends on what game engine you are using to be honest. I used to get a ton of screen tearing in the sims but i get none in the source engine despite v-sync being off. It can happen on any monitor. It basically means your monitor cannot keep up so it tries to update when it has only rendered half the screen. So you get two halves of one picture being displayed at once hence you get a "tear" often in the centre of your screen. But it can be anywhere depending on what frame rate you are trying to push.
    Performance:
    V-sync will slow your game down. It is designed to limit you to 60fps. But you may take a performance hit, say you normally only get 50fps if you enable v-sync you may only get 45fps. So don't use it if you don't normally get above 60fps.
    Triple buffering:
    I am by no means an expert on this but i have heard a lot of people say this can often be a more useful solution, but i do not know why so take it with a grain of salt.

    So basically give it a go and if it works then great, if it doesn't turn it off again and if you cant tell then once again turn it off.
