I've been experiencing a glitch every since I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10, where if I try to change the vehicle from the default truck after I load a map BeamNG Drive goes to a black screen and stays there. The weird part is that on the black screen I can still hear the engine sound if I hit the arrow keys, so it seems like the game is still running but the visuals are not working for some reason. The problem also happens if I try to change the parts on the default truck. Here are some things that I've tried:

*Going into fullscreen mode and back into windowed mode.
*Changing to the Beta in Steam then reverting back to the regular version of BeamNG Drive.
*Checking the integrity of the game on Steam (the check came back fine).
    *Changing the resolution on Windows.

So I've read that some people have had issues with BeamNG Drive not starting up after upgrading to Windows 10, but I haven't come across an issue like this where the I can drive the default truck perfectly fine but I cannot change vehicles. Any ideas?

    Try reinstalling the game entirely.

When your visuals go, is there a message in the bottom right of your screen saying that "your graphics drivers have stopped responding and have recovered"

A Windows message or a BeamNG Drive message? In either case, there's no error message that shows up anywhere. On the loading screen when I start the game up it shows the "problems detected" box, but that just talks about how my specs are low -- it came up with the exact same message on Windows 8 and the game worked fine.

I was talking about a windows message. If that didn't show up, I would still suggest making sure that your drivers are all up to date and if that doesn't work, maybe try an older version of the game or wait until the next update.

Yeah everything is up to date. The beta version does work, but it's all laggy and the resolution is messed up. So I guess I'll just wait for an update, or install Windows 8 again somewhere and play it on that.

Could you reproduce this issue, then attach your log file? The log file is located in My Documents\BeamNG.drive\beamng.log

How can one even get this thing to run in Win 10? When I try to open the application it states I need to install DirectX and the link brings me to an install for Win 7 which I doubt will work since apparently Win 10 has DirectX 11 pre-installed. Please help as I feel I just flushed $20!

Have you done all of your Windows Updates?

Also, what OS did you upgrade from? Windows 7 or Windows 8?

No upgrade, its a fresh Windows 10 install from the Microsoft Win 10 USB installer - I went from XP to 10 so there was no upgrade path available:-( ($120!).

I've been told that you need DirectX9 to run BeamNG drive, regardless of if you have a more recent version or not. I suppose since you did a fresh install of Windows rather than upgrading from an older version you will only have the latest version of DirectX installed. You mentioned earlier than when you try to start the game it brings you to a webpage for a DirectX installation -- what version of DirectX was that asking you to install?

It brings you to an error with a link address which then brings you here to the forum which when you click the live link there brings on to Microsoft SDK for DirectX 9 (apparently Win 10 has DirectX 11 with 12 on the horizon).

Yeah, try installing DirectX9 from there and see if that works.

Simply try to install the one that the link tells you. If it's already there, it won't install, else it will update it to the latest version. Nothing to lose.
