The D-series should be the Ford F-series, the H the E series, and the Hirochi Sunburst a Subaru Impreza, and so on. That way we can play with real vehicles.

No offense to gabester, these vehicles are amazing.

Aren't licenses super expensive? Plus I think the fictional brands are a great fit.

Real vehicles require licensing. And nobody would want to license their vehicles to BeamNG. Because of risk of their vehicles being seen as less safe than others.

I think that the devs enjoy the freedom they have without licensing. Take the SBR4. Nothing like what is on the road in real life. And I love it. It's amazing. It's car porn.

It's not about realism (Not that Beam isn't realistic) it's about how their cars would be perceived.

Plus, the first point is that buying the licensing would be way too much for the devs to afford. And I like that they make up their own brands and make vehicles generalized from multiple IRL ones. People who make vehicle mods for free download are free to do so as long as they make their own model, etc.

I think the companies that perform such tests are allowed to release the videos on their own accord, to prevent safety details being hidden.

Car companies have been quite transparent about the safety of their cars as of late. Emissions is a different story though ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Go look at their markety safety-cell, crumple-zone, seat-mounted-crotch-airbag-with-3-speed-massage-function crap on their websites and all the independent safety tests available for your perusal.

    Anyway.

    To address the thread: No.

It wont happen due to licensing costs. Maybe the devs will be able to afford it in a few years when they've sold millions of copies of BeamNG. Though I doubt that the devs themselves even want licensed cars in game. There are also other reasons, but licensing costs are the main reasons why they wont do it, at least for now.

Even though it's fake, real car makers would not want to see people destroying their cars. See Driver : San Francisco for example, they had to create their own unlicensed cars to use in a scene that depicts vehicles being destroyed.

I still don't see any need for licensed vehicles. The devs (specifically the ones that do the 3D modeling) probably enjoy the freedom (dev back me up?) that flying unlicensed brings them. They can base the in-game cars off of a stereotypical type of car (70's muscle; 80's hot hatch) or off of a car of their dreams (SBR4: a shooting brake body style, very few of such have hit production) or utterly stupid ideas of a car (Pigeon). I like the personal touch that they have.

Its not that their cars are being crashed, its the possibility that their cars will fair poorly compared to their competition. BeamNG isn't perfect, and, in a realistic crash, if it (accidentally) poses one car as safer than another, that car company will be very unhappy. So why risk it? Why lock yourselves up with licensed vehicles?
