(Thumbnail in the Map) This is Ghost Town. A map made by schumacher for BeamNG.drive, it is an atmosheric map with lot of cool , old and abandoned stuff in it, it is small but very cool in my opionion. Features are Pumpjacks, abnadoned sawmills , old signs ... I really worked hard on this map , the only thing I really cant do very well are roads, there are sometimes a little bit bumpy or scratching the tires but anyways it is drivable ! This progress never could happend , if there where no friendly guys in the forum who helped me with lots of things (Credited down below). The map has right now two versions of it (Fps Heavy / Fps Friendly), because there are some Fps Killers in the map and I have to optimize them before they are not laggy anymore but this takes a long time and I dont want to let you wait years.. A version for all is coming in the next mounths If there are some sound bugs , please let me know, I tried to fix them because in the beta the sound files doent worked, but now they should ... By the way , more abandonened cars will be added in the Update for everyone I have unfortunately not made it in time to finish this. +1 great map creator... (But the map is looks good! But my computer's monitor is turned into white... so I need a new one.)
It is a good approach of map creation, post apocalypse is a popular atmosphere (We are all doomed!) Also vehicules models and map colors have a good impact but later you will have to use more terrain editors to do a nice result!
so a quick update : Roads : 95 % Forest: 70% Paint: 55% Objects : 69% preview pics and other things : 35% fixed all isuses : 20% (not so much but there are just a few) ! : I added now a little bit more fog, lakes, plane crash, abondoned cars, smaller roads and changed the time to afternoon/night NEWEST PREVIEW PICS ARE COMING SOON cheers
I wondered about that, why are all the roads mesh roads? Unless I've missed something, that makes it a lot harder to generate AI roads (need to manually create waypoints, rather than just set a DecalRoad's drivability) and, indeed, harder to "decorate" roads.
I mean it is difficult with the materials but I used decal roads for the map (smoothness etc ) by the way I am looking for someone who can texture some no material objects on my map because there are some... and a little update, I added a electricity tower and some homeblocks
The fog setting is no good, I think it can be better with the same atmosphere, yous must increase the visible distance and set the altitude fog to 0, after set the value of the fog density to have a best render
Yeah I really like this so far. Looks pretty good. I do think the fog could be adjusted a bit. It's a little to dense in my opinion.
Epic! An industrial area with some old factories, smoke stacks, waste pits & abandoned warehouses would be an awesome addition. I don't know much about modding but Garry's mod has a bunch of junk props and crashed cars that you might be able to integrate.
so I didnt downloaded garrys mod yet, but I found a side with a bunch of old , wrecked cars, I just have to get collision on it ...
