Definitely do NOT like the new mobile version of the forum. I find it much more difficult to browse and cannot find the Dev blog at all. Just go back to the old setup... Why would you bother changing something that worked perfectly fine before?

No offense, but I absolutely hate the new forum theme, as well as everything else that is "modern" looking.

Yeah, I guess I'm not a huge fan... the old forum seemed fine, and it's not like people are going to judge the quality of the game based on the appearance of the website. Even so, you could've easily redesigned the header and the navbar while keeping the integral design of the forum the same. Hell, if you were really set on the whole "modern" thing, why not just reskin the old forums?

Also, BeamNG uses principles of material design in its menu. This and material design are nothing alike. It seems logical to assume one should be more like the other, no?

Bye everyone. I probably won't post here anymore for at least a few weeks (unless it's fixed). Bye.

    Further impressions...

why delineate the main menu? It's hard to navigate and requires a lot more time to look over and interpret.
also, why a "like" button? last I checked this isn't Facebook. the "thanks" button, despite being used in a similar way, was great because it encouraged thoughtful/helpful discussion. a like button, for lack of motivation to post a more insightful analysis... won't do that.

don't take this the wrong way, i'm trying to be constructive. I'm sure with a few changes most everyone will be as satisfied with this as they were with the old forums, but... seriously, come on guys. you could've put a little bit more effort into this transition because it's obviously not finished.

I mean I'm using the "like" as the "thanks" that was thrown out the window like the pile of dead babies, like the rest of the old forum. Just why? Instead of "Here you go, suck it up", why wasn't it, "We have an idea, let's see if the people like it first via a beta before release??"

Couldn't we have just "modernised" the top bar and icons and called it a day.

This is a confusing mess to use, hopefully the new theme/style will fix this because I honestly really don't like it.

We had lots of reasons to change it:
    • vbulletin getting old and unsupported, lots of security problems. Not going to upgrade to their version5 which is completely horrible.
    • XenForo has more features (a lot!) and is a lot cleaner not to mention the fixed security problems
We are open for feedback, but straight hate is not helping anyone.

Not everything in life works as planned as wished. This move was supposed to happen months ago. Having a beta before the change is making everything a lot more complicated as you cannot have users posting new things in there that would be meaningful. We chose the complete rapid switch to get the topic done with.

tl;dr: get used to it, its a forum

Fair enough. However just getting it set up so its more familiar and readable with the new theme/style is what I look forward to.

    Here's my two cents then:

    1. The grid layout of subforums is a jarring change, I don't think I've ever seen anything like it before. IMO it'd be much better to have it as a simple list, with everything the same width and height like before. It also creates a lot of whitespace at the bottom, so having more height to the page would make more sense. It's also rather jumbled as some things are two objects wide, making everything look like it's in disarray.

    2. Quote background is too light, causing it to blend in with the parent post a lot. I dunno what colour WOULD look good, but I'm not a fan of it right now.

    3. The BeamNG house style/colour is absent. The blue-orange that you could see everywhere suited the site, right now it looks like a default CSS template (unless it is still the default one and will be changed, then disregard this one)

    4. The animated "online" icon is too distracting.

    However, I do like:

    - The refresh thing where it shows you new posts made since your visit

    - The persistent title bar, it's quicker to access main stuff from that. It might also be nice to add the subforums to that title bar for even quicker access.

    - The post editor being on the same page

tl;dr: The new software is way better, the style sheet is a bit of a downgrade.

Animated avatars should now work if you reupload your gif.

Well at least there was a reason to change it. Will update my signature tommorow! Just please change there theme. Maybe there is a theme for XenForo that makes it look like vBulletin?

That substantiates the change then. Looking forward to a better appearance at some point because this isn't pretty or functional.

it should be a darker gray and be circled, instead of just having something like - - - - around it

I just installed this fricking style and it has literally a gazillion of options. :|

If you prefer, i can also lock the forum up again, fix the little things up and let you use it in some hours after i worked on it the whole night.
