Good idea! I love the roleplay aspect that you want to make!

Also think about maybe some industrial places, or little racing area's or test tracks.
Also some big buildings with parkings or something!

But great idea! I hope to see some more progress and goodluck!

very great idea, hope we can see more progress soon , but I think it that would be something like generic city , you will need a biggger groundcover and please dont make just a flat area, make it a little bit hilly, but all in all great idea and looks pretty good so far :D

    Looks cool so far.
Though I think you should talk to the creator of Riverside Expressway for road making tips...
He did an incredible job on the roads and buildings on that map, I think he could give you some sweet pointers on making a really epic city map.

It would be really nice if he showed all of us how he made a map like Riverside Expresway. I've always wanted to know how to make a city like that.

It's worth noting that Riverside Expressway is a real-world location. Many of the creative parts of building a city map from scratch won't likely be communicated by talking with Mitch. I'll give you these, though:
    • Don't be married to the idea of decal roads and terrain. Your map should have terrain, but tuck it under the static mesh forming your city in every place where there's not grass, dirt, or open fields. Especially important when lining up curbs.
    • Get a meticulous eye for space. Nothing stifles the feel of a place like making it too small or large. Understand how wide your streets and avenues must be, how far back buildings should be from the curb. Don't try to fill every spare inch of a block with buildings; add open courtyards, parks, and plazas here and there.
    • Don't make a perfect grid. Modern cities are usually built in grids, but life happens, and they end up imperfect. Add subtle hills, diagonal streets, occasional alleyways, rivers, and T-intersections to break up the evenness.
    • Variety. Make a number of unique buildings, of course, but this counts for scaling and layout, too. Change the width of the street and sidewalks, the height or type of buildings, number of alleyways, parking lots, etc. based on the location in the map. Give the player something to see and some way to know where they are at a glance.
