It has now been 5 hours, hope is slowly dying. I was at the counter and they were printing my temporary version of my full license when the computers crash. They still aren't up.

EDIT: As of 5 hours and 30 minutes I got my license. :D
I can drive everywhere now. :O

As soon as she passes her MOT she'll get a long deserved respray.
(Might just get a new number plate just to be on the safe side)

You realise they are illegal in the US unless you have a genuine projector headlight housing? That and you need the HID ballast, cant just stick them straight in existing halogen socket, thats not a legality, thats a "science bruh" thing, they literally wont work without.

That and even when the low beam is adjusted as low as it goes, the light spread from an HID is still more dazzling to oncoming drivers than a full beamed halogen making you number 1 douchebag on the roads.

Just get some halogen globes, a few manufacturers make them far brighter than stock lighting while being safe for street use. Or get a projector housing, I've checked and they do exist for the vic/related, look decent to me, gives your car that unique modified look while also retaining somewhat factory styling rather than being hideous rice crap.

Apparently Volkswagen have just dethroned Toyota in terms of global sales for the first half of 2015. First time they've ever done that, and very well deserved IMO.

Should also be noted, halogen bulbs in projector housings are perfectly safe and factory fitted on some vehicles now. Those vehicles can indeed just have an HID ballast thrown in and HID bulbs fitted.

For automotive use you really want to use a 4300k HID bulb. 4000-5000 also fine. All should appear white, 5000 with a slight hint of blue creeping in. While some people (mostly bogans, rednecks in their lifted trucks and chavs) think 12000k bulbs are logically going to be brighter than 4300k, that is false. the k rating is a colour temperature and not a true brightness, 4300k is actually the temperature of natural light, higher tints blue, lower tints towards red/yellow. Its lumens that represent brightness. Yet a 200 lumen 12000k may appear brighter than a 200 lumen 4300k bulb, why? The eye is more sensitive to blue light, what appears to be a brighter lit scene is simply glare from increased sensitivity to that source, you lose detail.

But here is an excellent sample as to why you dont utilise HIDs in reflectors:
    vettehids.JPG
This image was taken with a fully decreased headlight elevation on low beam. Yet at a distance of just a foot or 2, its casting light that far up the wall... You can clearly see a defined edge to the light from where it is being cast direct from the headlight and not simple reflection of light from other surfaces.

The genuine projector (in this case a smaller projector housing retrofitted to the inside of a reflector housing, this is just fine) does this:
    photo-4.JPG
See the lack of light being cast upwards towards oncoming drivers?

So you're unhappy with the headlight output? Have you considered doing the external headlight relay harness thing mod?
Apparently that's a common complaint among Panther owner because i hear about it constantly on crownvic.net. It increases the power to the headlights to make them brighter or something like that.
I haven't drive mine enough at night to decide whether I need it or not.

My power windows randomly stopped working for like 30 seconds today. Parked and left the car running, right rear passenger rolled down their window to let themselves out (you gotta use the outside handle) and couldn't roll it back up. I tried at the driver's switches and it wouldn't go up there either. None of the windows were responding to any of the switches. 15 seconds of head scratching later they were working completely normal again.
I forgot to tighten the negative battery terminal down after taking it off for the wiring work the other day; it was just slipped on there. Tightened it up when I got back. If this happens again I'll have to look into it a little more.
Idle hours are up to 4768. 6 hours of idle time put on there since I got it apparently.

Welp, I'm back to work after I got some inspiration from modelling videos... Got a crap ton of work done on it tonight and I'm really proud of myself:rolleyes: model is almost complete if I do say so myself

heres what hat I did today:
    engine
    unibody
    loads of interior work
    exhaust
    engine bay
    beginnings of suspension

    whats left to do(modeling):
    suspension(complete)
    transmission
    Official wheels
    finish interior
    gas tank

hmm that's it! I'm super excited to finish it which will probably be soon. I would give some pictures but I've already switched off my pc for the night:p

why did the GT86 have to have a boxer engine in it, it would last longer if it didn't have a boxer engine my dad sees lots of old Subarus (with boxer engines) in wreckers yards and he has never seen ones pass 180,000 km I thought Toyota is known for reliability. it would of been better if it had an engine built by Toyota.

its the reliability and the longetivity of the engine that would get those GT86's in the future.

oh heres a pic so you know what Im going on about.

The boxer engine is not inherently unreliable. Look at the VW boxer engines, some of those exceed half a million miles and yet you say boxers are unreliable?

The only real issue with subaru's older boxers are the valve cover and head gaskets. Due to the low situation of the engine in the bay, they are also difficult to replace without dropping the entire engine so that can be expensive. Headgasket failure is bad for any engine, that is not unique to the boxer, you could say "oh but it has 2 so they're more likely to need replacement", yeah so does a v8 and people dont bitch about that. The valve cover gasket, equally bad as you lose oil when that starts leaking, an irresponsible owner then doesnt check his oil level and drives the car about with low or no oil.

There you go. Be a responsible car owner and check your car over every now and then for those 2 maintenance items (well 4).

Subarus previous issues appear to have *not* been carried over to the gt86 engine which is an entirely new design and not a descendant of subarus existing products.

Alot of people bitched when it came out about how non tuneable it was, ignore those people, those guys are morons that expected high end upgrades to be available the very day the car came out. That stuff is now available, it was literally a case of "this has only just come out, give us some time to work out how shit works".
