Mitch's B-25 is a great piece of machinery, with a realistic flight & damage model, not to mention a very detailed 3d model itself. As Mitch is now a developer, he has less time to work on the plane, so I propose someone else do something he planned on doing: Make more B-25 variants. The Mitchell family had many different variants of aircraft, some vastly different from the rest. It is known that Mitch planned on making more of these (Also made clear in game, as the parts selector reads "J Type Glazing"), but as it stands we only have one variant, a TB-25N (Made evident by the exhaust stacks and green cockpit glass), which is a modified B-25J-20. B-25-NA The first version of the B-25, with 24 built. Wings were of a constant dihedral angle; lack of top turret, different tail and waist gun mountings; exhaust stacks long; retractable tail skid. The other 31 had the wing straightened out from the nacelle to the wingtip (Like Mitch's B-25), but were otherwise identical. Armament was of 1 .30 cal gun in the nose, 1 in the waist and a .50 in the tail. B-25B-NA The first combat ready version, 120 built. These had a different tail design with no tail gunner and replaced the waist guns with two bendix turrets, one on the bottom, just aft of the bomb bay, and one on top, just aft of that turret. Left exhaust stack was kept the same, while the right one was shortened. 24 aircraft had the bottom turret removed for the Doolittle Raid, but only 16 actually went. Armament was of 1 .30 cal gun in the nose, 2 .50 cals in the top turret, 2 in the bottom and 2 in the tail). B-25C-NA, C-1, C-5, C-10, C-15, C-20, C-25 First Mass Produced version, 1625 built. Description per block: -B-25C-NA/C-1-NA: Shortening of left exhaust stack: Right and left now identical; Retractable tail skid replaced by fixed one (As in Mitch's B-25); Changed narvigator's flat windows to bubble canopies. Changes to top turret. -B-25C-5-NA: Nose .30 cal replaced by a .50; addition of a fixed .50 in the nose (Mitch's has 2); Finger type exhaust stacks, which I was unable to find pictures of. -B-25C-10-NA: Same as C-5NA, but with the C-1NA's exhaust stack. -B-25C-15-NA/C-20-NA/C-25-NA: Replacement of the exhaust stacks for Clayton "S" stacks (Those triangles on Mitch's B-25's engines). B-25D-NC, D-1, D-5, D-10, D-15, D-20, D-25, D-30, D-35 The B-25D was basically identical to the B-25C, but some were modified with solid noses and/or addition of waist and tail turrets. 2290 built. B-25G-1-NA, G-5, G-10 B-25C-15-NA modified by replacing the greenhouse nose with a shorter solid one with 2 .50 cals and a 75mm M4 cannon. First 65 were converted B-25Cs, other 340 were built. Starting with aircraft #42-65001 the belly turret was deleted, therefore 2 versions actually exist. B-25H-1-NA, H-5, H-10 More similar to the B-25J (Or Mitch's TB-25N) than to the G, the aircraft moved the top turret forward, added tail and waist turrets. Differs from the B-25J by having no co-pilot's station and having a solid nose, similar to that of the G. 1000 built. Difference per variant: -B-25H-1: B-25G with top turret moved forward; tail and waist turrets added; Co-pilot station deleted; Addition of 2 more guns in the nose; Replacement of M4 cannon with lighter T13E1; Additon of 2 cheek guns on right forward fuselage. -B-25H-5-NA/H-10-NA: Same as H-1-NA, with the addition of 2 cheek guns on the left forward fuselage as well. B-25J-1-NC/J-5-NC/J-7-NC/J-10-NC/J-11-NC/J-15-NC/J-20-NC/J-22-NC/J-25-NC/J-30-NC/J-35-NC Per variant: -B-25J-1-NC: Same as B-25H, but with a greenhouse nose like the ones on B-25C-25-NAs and a co-pilot station. 555 built. -B-25J-5-NC/J-10-NC/J-15-NC: Same as J-1-NC, but with cheek guns and blast arrestors (those lumps on the upper fuselage) added. 1130 built. -B-25J-20-NC/J-25-NC/J-30-NC/J-35-NC: Same as B-25J-15, but with a second gun added to the nose. Mitch's B-25 is a modified J-20, so this is unnecessary. 2705 built. -B-25J-7-NC/J-11-NC/J-22-NC: Respectively, B-25J-5-NC, J-10-NC and J-20-NCs modified with solid strafer noses.
Why don't you try it yourself? You definitely have the plane knowledge; I would think if you can study these planes, you can study basic vehicle modding. If you need help, check the wiki or PM me.
here is some info i through together to make a car you need to know how to 1)model in a 3d program and 2)Know how to make a jbeam. Making a jbeam is in the wiki. you can also study other dev mad cars. As for how to make a model for the car, look up how to make a car in blender. Wiki on Content Creation WIKI Getting started guide Guide Jbeam Templates Templates some programs you will need (all free) Blender Notepad ++ paint.net
You need to open blender first and import it. Then give up for the time being, learn how to model in blender and revisit this project in future. If you have no modeling experience you won't go anywhere on this project. Gain some experience first
So after watching some tutorials on youtube, I decided that the best thing would be to start as simple as possible. But then the simple became mixed with the peculiar. Long story short, my first model will be a Phoenix P-1: (imported from here) The Phoenix P-1 was an aircraft especially built for the filming of 1965's Flight of The Phoenix, being made from parts of a Fairchild C-82. As one can see, it's pretty much just an engine with two nearly flat wings, so it shouldn't be too hard. Wish me luck.
While I haven't made much progress with the Phoenix, I have made some with the B-25. A few holes have been cut in to better represent the wheel wells. The problem is actually filling those. I still need to learn how to copy and paste stuff properly, etc, but I think it's gonna turn out pretty good. Works ingame as well. Gear doors are finished. Slight problem though: Don't know how to attach them or make them open. I'll figure it out though. In the meantime, I'm open to suggestions.
The B-25 looks good. I do have a question regarding it, is it different from the one B25 Mitch made? Shit somehow I missed the first post...
More progress on the B-25! I've added the tiny metal rod that connects the small gear door in the engines, removed the Hayes exhaust stack, shortened the outer gear door on the engine (As its supposed to be the same length as the inner one) and other tiny details. I will need to re-map the plane after all this, which is good, since the original mapping wasn't the easiest when it comes to making textures.
