As with nearly any Chrome problem, just uninstall and reinstall.

Why don't you try Googling it? Seriously. I can't be there to see exactly what's going on.

Well you've already got 1 bit of malware, sure you dont have more? Something is majorly wrong on your machine.

That chrome extension you couldnt work out how to remove in general discussion or something.

Regardless. Whats happening to you is indicative of some sort of malware infection.

Check your windows proxy settings, if there is a proxy set then you have issues.
If that doesnt work then run malwarebytes, if thats positive then thats self explanatory.
Then if that doesnt work, time to reinstall windows, or roll back to a restore point if you have created any.

Go to C:\Program Files and sort the folders by date modified.

If you see anything like this,

    example.JPG

    remove it.

Control panel, internet options, connections tab, lan settings button.
    Should look like this:

    - - - Updated - - -

Preinstalled with windows 8 although shouldnt have been recently modified, should be the joint oldest.

Restore it then. Deleting it is as dumb as deleting the SYSTEM32 folders. Thats a part of the OS and should not be tampered with.

That is for every windows version in 2 decades, it did not change from 7 to 8 and is also incredibly obviously 8 from the squared off borders.

If proxy was ticked, you have malware. Unticking alone will not fix. Go through the rest of the stuff.
