You just need sufficient cold cranking amperage (CCA (burst peak current)) on the jumping battery. The fuel type has nothing to do with whether or not it can be jumped, though diesels generally require a higher CCA than a comparable petrol engine. If that little 3/4 cylinder petrol battery was tasked with jumping a 6+ cylinder diesel, expect a weak crank or nothing at all. In a rear-end, those Pintos liked to crumple such that the doors jammed shut so the occupants burned to death :^)
The main point to note is a much higher compression ratio making it more difficult to crank over a diesel engine. Requires a much beefier starter motor which in turn requires more current to run. Plus diesels run higher fuel pressures which again requires a beefier fuel pump with more current. Vastly more electrical power required. Yet does not mean you can't use a far smaller petrol engine. I have a workaround. The corsa could not straight jump start the 2.8l diesel. But, hook cables up and leave the corsa running for about 10 minutes with a bit of pressure on the throttle (obviously not revving the tits off it) and you can put a bit of a charge on the diesel cars battery. Hold it at peak horsepower as the diesel cranks, it now has 1 alternator running at peak performance + a battery + a bit of charge in its own battery. Jump start complete.
I'd imagine that you're somewhat disoriented and in a lot of pain after getting rear ended at that speed in a car of that era. I guess you gotta rely on bystanders to smash the glass and get you out. Also, the car being American and 70s works against the strength of the windshield. It'll probably fall out on its own if you look at it wrong.
Remember that lovely Ford V8 I mentioned was being put in the engine bays of some US Cop cars? Well look at this. I don't even know how to react. Ultimate Sleeper.
so i own a car now (well technically, still going through the transfer proccess as well as we still have to get it here) not sure about the year yet, but it's a dark green manual transmission mitsubishi eclipse GSX or GS, i forget which (pretty sure it's gsx though), first things first once i get it though, i'll have to actually learn to drive a manual
Would you mind giving me some info about the Eclipse. I have never seen one apart from the 2 in F&F so I really know nothing about them
it's a 2 door sport compact car named after a 18th century english racing horse that won 26 races, has a 5spd manual (or optional slushomatic), and a 2L DOHC i4 with ranges of 140HP to 210HP (210hp being on the turbocharged version of the engine) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Eclipse is where you'll find quite a bit of info about it (i think somewhere in it they even list gearbox ratio's, so that's neat
When driving a white crown vic, you can be tricked into thinking that people think your car is cool, because everyone stares at you, but they're actually just trying to figure out whether or not you're a cop. Also, congrats on the car logoster. I've always kinda thought that eclipses are cool.
Yeah, I'd say. Ive also noticed that, no matter who got there first, everyone waits for you to go first at a 4 way stop, which is actually pretty annoying. you can go anywhere you went and no one will question you, which will be a lot more useful once I have my license. The thing that I like most is that people drive less like cunts around you in general. - - - Updated - - - No lol I gave up on that shitty '00 and just bought one from an auction. 2006 P71, 131k, former Knox county sheriffs office patrol car. 50k less miles, a hell of a lot nicer in every aspect, and only 200 bucks more
You're also the only one whose car is in BeamNG You can just go on in game and be like "Hmm would I survive this?"
