Sorry if this has been suggested.

How about making parts between ALL the vehicles selectable? It would make for some fun creations, and though you can have a D15 with Roamer parts, why not build a Covet onto a SWB D15 chassis? Or fit a Covet Steering Wheel into a D15? Sure, in the real world the steering would be heavy but you would have loads of knee room! Its just a bit of a laugh, and why not? Why not fit goofy stuff into cars; a D15 with Covet seats (a possible conversion in real life too people fitting "comfortable seats" into utility vehicles for example.

It will work with lots of trim and some mechanical parts, but you couldn't fit a D15 door onto a Grand Marshall for example or a Covet rear light arrangement to a H15 Vanster. But I think we could make some really cool hybrids of all vehicles, and some utter abominations of vehicles. Realistic too. Why fit a Covet Steering Wheel into the Moonhawk? Because the crappy old one disintegrated and the covet one was all that was lying in the shed and you were late......

I think it could work quite well.

Let me add, the name "Parts Bin Special" comes from a time in England in the 1970s-00s where whole cars would be built from parts of preceding cars I can sit in my 1978 Land Rover Series III 88" and see bits of interior used on Triumph Stags, Range Rovers from the 80s and the first Gen Discoveries used door handles from Morris Marinas, the older Discoveries used rear lights from Austin Maestro vans and so on and so forth.

That would take a lot of time for the developers to do, and very hard (Afaik).

I realise the base of the roamer is the same as the D15 etc, and they cross swap parts, like a roamer steering wheel in a D15, so cant it be coded to reference to other models like the covet, etc etc. I dont know coding so go easy on me.

Covet hood has beams that reference nodes on the covet, and would have to be changed a bunch to even reference a different vehicle. The nodes on every vehicle are different and may not even be in the same position, so this is simply not possible.

May not be exactly what you were thinking of, but it wouldn't be too hard to make all of the wheels available for all of the vehicles, just time consuming. Same for steering wheels. Probably not anything else, though... Just put them in the Common parts folder (already exists, used for the small trailer and other things), maybe have to adjust reference nodes, and change the slot names on every single vehicle (time consuming). Same for seats (maybe, maybe not). WOuldn't work with putting, say, the Covet body onto a T-series chassis, of course. Too many reference nodes. And it would just be weird.

Side note: Maybe a dev can help me with this, but it seems to me that the Gavril Grand Marshal and the D-series have very similar chassis...

And the H series. Seems to be gavril have one basic design and its tweaked to fit the 3 separate vehicles. It is not the same on each, but very similar, just stretched/shrunk in a few spots.

wouldn't it just be better to make more parts for the vehicles like giving each vehicle body kits to use or something?

Making all the vehicles use all parts would have too many reference nodes and be a jbeam nightmare literally.

    Why would anyone need a:

    • Covet hood on a 200BX
    • D15 rollbar on a T-series
    • D-15 Basic steering wheel in a covet

Even on the similar vehicles why would anyone actually want a:

    • D-15 driver door on an H-series
    • T-series sunviser on an H-series
    • D-15 Offroad bumpers on a Grand Marshal

Well like I said, the idea is for realistic ideas. You can't stick a covet door on a grand Marshall. But you could put covet
seats into the D15! Many people would have done stuff like that. Or a covet steering wheel in a D15. I don't want stupid goofy things like a covet on a T series but just parts that could be interchangeable between models. Like heavy duty H series mirrors on a D15 or covet seats in a D15. Covet steering wheel in a D15 (another thing people used to do to increase leg room).

I want to make some stupid looking cars but not unrealistic. Like some of the "projects" that appear on eBay

I'm trying not to sound like an ass, but do it yourself. It wouldn't be very hard to do this, just some basic code editing, it would just be time consuming. And some people don't have that time, or would rather use their time for other mods.
