I am having this same issue, I'm doing what everyone else said to do, but when I try to import it, it's basically flat. And I did change max height for it not to be flat but it has to be set to like 99999 and it looks like really jagged. There might be a simple solution to this, but I haven't made a map since before the new update. Any help would be appreciated.

Set the 'Height' to something more appropriate (200-500)..
Make sure your heightmap image is a PNG file (16bit is better)

Thanks for the help, but the heightmap is still flat. Is there an issue with my heightmap? I created it from terrain party.

Looks like Torque is seeing and importing the map okay? What program are you making the height map with?

I used the website called terrain.party which automatically creates a heightmap from a place in real life. I am thinking that this is probably the issue.

I would imagine any heightmap in .png format would work but perhaps that site is doing something with the file format
that Torque doesn't like. Sounds like a cool site, been wanting to do real location height maps.

This may be of assistance: http://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/

It will probably require a DEM-capable program like QGis, though.

Edit: Yeah, here's a 30-meter SRTM capture from some place in Utah, conveniently sized to 1024x1024:

This website is really neat! But I can't import the heightmap because it's not in the power of two size...

How can I change the size of the heightmap to fit? If the setting is in-game, then I don't remember, haven't done any map making for a bit.

    My other heightmap works though.

EDIT: Does this USGS Earth Explorer have the ability to create heightmaps? I can't figure out...

Thanks Occam! I just fired up L3TD for the first time in months and am going to try a heightmap and see if I can replicate
    the issue.

I'm glad you guys are getting inspired to remake places in real life in BeamNG. Could somebody try using my heightmap (or any heightmap) and see if it's also coming out flat for them? Just want to know if it's just my issue or it's a different issue before I reinstall the game, I have terrible internet so it might take a while.

If you want I can try and use your height map to see if the same issue happens.

I posted the heightmap further up in this thread. It's the black and white one titled "heighmap".

I tested your heightmap, and it was just flat. So like you said, something's wrong.

My older heightmap works fine. My new one from this website isn't the right size so I can't test it. Anyone know how to change the size?

Go into a photo editing software like paint or gimp etc. and change the change the image size to a power of 2. 512,1024 etc.
