If so. A few full tanks of decent fuel should flush it out. Hence the reason I stuck some 97 octane (think American premium gas works out as 93 octane in the ron system then usually anywhere in the e5-15 range with most states hovering somewhere around 10, UK standard is 95 octane e5) through my car once, tends to burn off some crud in the engine. Car is rated for upto 98 octane. It's a ford, it will be stamped in back of handbook what the max safe octane for the fuel map installed is in the local octane rating system.

Well, I used an actual gauge manifold to check the pressures and to try and fill it, but the hose that you're supposed to attach to the can to fill it has some stupid fitting that only works on resealable cans of refrigerant, which are only really a thing in Cali. So I went out and bought an adaptor, which didn't seal right on the hose and I pretty much just ended up venting half of the can because I'm an idiot. Ac blows ice cold though so it's not really that big of a problem. I'm just trying to fix the cycling compressor.

i know that cars do that when they run out of gas and it's normal, but I just can't stand rattling and clanking sounds coming from my engine bay.
I laughed at myself getting a faceful of gas while it was happening. I busted into my kitchen with gasoline dripping off of me lol. Started to burn my skin surprisingly fast, too.
It's probably just the idle time that clogs the police ones up over time. Mine has 4700 idle hours on it so that would explain it.

That actually is a very good point.

Ford says one hour is equal to 33 miles of engine wear. So... How many miles are on the car?

131k on the odometer and over 300k if you count the idle hours.
Still purrs. A bit of valve tick when I first got it, but it's decreased noticeably since the oil was changed.
I took a fusebox that previously supplied power to police equipment out of the glovebox tonight. Freed up a lot of space.

About 286,100 miles. Not to bad... Almost every cab in Boston is a retired P-71. Some must be 1,000,000 mile plus.

Brake pads arrived. Still not been marked as despatched online. Odd but whatever.
Gonna try fitting them in a bit, only just got back from work.

EDIT: Or not. Took wheel off only for the heavens to unleash a torrent of water. Then discovered that its a 7mm allen key in the back not a 6mm, I dont own a 7mm.

    - - - Updated - - -

Tried replacing brake pads. Failed. Made it worse. Cant even get the old pads back in, piston extended out too far and being an idiot I didnt think about that before. Cant work out how to force it back in. Its come out so far, it doesnt even fit over the disc.

    Dont think I own any.

Have £3 to my name. Seems both 'gibbs and dandy' and 'B&Q' (christ that reads horribly, and, and, and...) as only stockists I can think of locally both want more than £3.

    EDIT:
Found some. Dont look big enough, but we'll find out tomorrow. Light is falling.
Going to have to cycle to work tomorrow. Dont actually have a bike though :p Just nick whatever one I find in shed, even if its mums purple thing.

Your cylinder is charged, you may need to release the pressure by applying the brake pedal to the floor, and release. (NO FINGERS ALLOWED)
This should release the fluid pressure behind the piston, then that wrench or a c-clamp may be used to compress the piston open.
Apologies I missed this, I was playing games. Your repair manual should have mention on how to release pressure to the piston.

Just had a quick check while recovering work stuff from car. Wrench I found is definitely too small, by miles, absolutely miles.
Pressing pedal contributed to why its so fucked in the first place, forced the piston out even further than it was, it didnt retract again.

It is supposed to extend, pressure is bled when releasing the pedal, then one must seat the piston manually. Using a c-clamp, a wrench, some use their hands, should be enough to compress the said piston and seat it for installation over the pad.
By miles are you referring to mils, 1/6400 ?
Possibly you can rotate your tires too.

absolutely miles. Figure of speech. A mile is a large distance. My wrench is far too small to cover the pistons extension.

    I dont have a G Clamp. I dont have the money to buy a G clamp. I literally have £3. Cheapest G clamp I can buy. £6. £3 more than I have.

Pressing the brake pedal caused a further 2cm of travel. Releasing the brake pedal did not cause the piston to retract fully, it was still extended 1cm further than it was in the first place.

This is a fuct idea, however do you have a double arm wine bottle cork screw? You could wedge the auger compressed into the caliper. Press the control arms down as to pull the cork, and when the plunger auger twist extends it could push the piston flat.
Not fun to be trying the dark, however trying to think of tools that extend in a manner or other budget ways to help.

You could wrap twine around the piston and caliper with a screw driver outside the caliper yet under the twine. Twist the screwdriver up in the twine, as if creating a tourniquet, it will squeeze the piston into its house as if being constricted by a python or Boa snake.

Bought a new hose for the ac gauge manifold that will work with the refrigerant can piercer attaching thingy. Connected the hoses to the ports on the car, started it up, was getting ready to charge it back up, and the high side hose split down close to the port. :|
    Nothing's working.

Did a couple of 0-60 runs on the interstate. Mid-high 7s. and this was with one if those accelerometer things you hang stick on your windshield. For a big car it hauls ass.
Picked up some new hoses, recharging ac now.

Should be right around 130mph. I've read that the 4R70W/4R75W don't handle WOT shifts into 4th gear very well so top speed is limited to the top of 3rd gear.

I've also read it's limited due to driveshaft resonance. I imagine both are the reason.

That being said, with my 2.73 gears, my car will hold second till 88mph. Theoretically, my car could probably pull till about 140mph with the mods I have/will done/do... I think it is limited some where around 110mph however.

    Edit-My cars 3rd gear ends at 160mph.
