I towed a 5 ton Tractor 7km through some suburbs today (and through the universities main campus) to get it to my friends house sothat we can fix it for our community based project. Got some strange looks.
Drove my grandma's 2014 Suburban on the two-lane highways in the middle of Kansas today. NA V8s are nice. It pulled pretty well and made a nice sound. It also didn't feel like as much of a boat as I expected it to.
Drove the suburban the whole 160 mile drive back home. Definitely a comfortable cruiser. I like it. Phone pic above.

Aah yes, the Control Blade. I swear by it. I don't know how these Focuses handle so well for what they are, besides the obvious. Dad took a 15MPH limit corner at 40+, no problem. Best designed/engineered car I've seen. I've never said, "Who designed that, so stupid." at it. Also, after we ate at a local restaurant, I spotted a SVT Focus in the car lot across the street, in quite nice shape. Black with black/red interior, wanted $3000, Dad said he'd trade in his SE any day for it. I suspect he's going to get it soon enough.
Im still learning the limits of mine. Although it has the disadvantage of being the wagon so weighs a bit more. From drivers perspective I just wish the brake and throttle height difference was less drastic. After some practise I've picked up the heel toe technique, although the pedal placement really prevents it being as easy as it could be. Mine was meant to be a temporary car. But I may keep it awhile.
The way we figured out how to get the most of it is to turn in, then add steering lock as you go through the corner.
It may handle well, but it's definitely not the best engineered vehicles around. I've taken 25mph turns at 50 in a pickup truck. Speed limits for turns are often far, far below the limits of the vehicle. You've probably never wondered why someone designed something so stupid because you haven't worked on it. You will wonder that about something on every car if you work on it long enough. You've also never driven it so that has a lot to do with it.
Nah, it's just judging what speeds I can manage that's the problem. And braking. What's left of the pad is wearing rapidly, disc is warped too. I literally don't have funds to replace. Should get them next Thursday though. Wheels can't lock in the wet. Until I have a good set of brakes, not pushing car to it's limits. Get it mechanically sound first. But the thing is glued. There is a bend near me I span the corsa on at 45mph. Taken it at 70 in the ford, no under steer, although I could feel it on the limits of front tyres (one of which is worn) - - - Updated - - - Water bottle and central fusebox location. Both seem silly to me. That's about it for retarded on focus so far. Otherwise, would be nice if the a/c compressor clutch was available, it's an older part so not carried/sold on its own anymore (used to be though so doesn't really count). May hunt scrapyard for one.
I completely forgot about those cupholders, Satan can design them better. Not enough room for even a 20oz Coke. My car is worse though. For me to get the #1 spark plug wire off, I also have to remove the alternator. Automatic seat belts. No tach. MAF reduces power, 1.5 inch hole in it, later cars have a twice as big hole for airflow. No tach. Automatic seat belts. Cupholders are only 4ish inches deep, no other way to hold the top of cups. Gas gauge isn't the most accurate thing in the world. No tach. Automatic seat belts. Fuel cap cover is released by a cable, but a bent spring doesn't let it pop out. What other bad design choices? Height adjustment for the seat was optional, don't have it, and I'm 5'3". You need to wait 3 seconds to shift into Reverse or it will grind by design. No tach. Automatic seat belts. No low fuel light on the base cluster, also no tach and 85MPH speedo. The automatic seat belts don't work, the Canadian models got regular 3-pointers, and how do these newfangled auto seat belts work? A motor assembly moves the shoulder part in place, and the lap belts are manual. Don't know why they even exist. Even though I don't have a kid or will have one when I drive it, it needs a special locking clip for the seat belts for a car seat. What am I forgetting? No tach and auto seat belts.
That's because cars aren't made for small children. Don't worry, you'll grow. Probably. Maybe. Hopefully.
A small child is under 4 feet tall. My mother is 5'0". Don't say so much bullshit. It would help though, I'd like to be a few inches higher, but perfectly driveable that low though.
Find out what year cluster has the correct wiring for your model then replace the cluster with one equipped with a tach, then tach.
It's one wire, but to take the gauges out, you need to take the speedometer cable out of the transmission. A tachometer is a necessity with a manual transmission, IMO.
I don't know if that is a question or a statement, but without prior knowledge on that particular cable I can say what better time than summer and when your cab interior is a yard sale.
Well, we are going to PullAPart soon, will grab a sport cluster, but it'll be a pain to put in, and swap the odometer.
Mark your shift points on the speedo. Can be calculated easily enough. Peugeot 107 I drove with no tach was marked as such from factory, marked quite conservatively actually, models with tach prove if anything you're shifting early. Or as a rough guide. Shift up every 15mph. Won't work best for that engine, but will work. By water bottle location, I didn't mean the cup holder. Screen wash. Bottle is not in sight and has a remote fill cap.
There is a stock sport gauge cluster. 120MPH speedo, and tach, came on the GT and 93+ cars. - - - Updated - - - Welp, looking at my local junkyard's Escort inventory, not very promising for 2nd gen (91-96) For the Focus And the Saturn piece of shit.
