Okay. So go over there, take the drive, go home, order new one, clone, and give it back. Sounds easy.

Or, go there, look at PC, get drive and either IDE/SATA power/data cable, install Acronis thingy, clone, turn off, take old drive out, take cables out I put in.

That's pretty much what I said except with waiting for the clone to do its thing at their house..

I think it would make more sense so they can use their PC (albeit with an awful drive) for the time it takes to get a drive here. Let's hope it's a newish PC running SATA, and not a laptop, and get paid a decent amount.

I'm trying to run my old computer that runs like an old dog as my "new" media PC (For game streaming) and I've already run into a few problems, first off, I have a big black border around my screen, as if the resolution isn't big enough, the TV is 49" and is 1080p, 1920x1080 resolution, I've set the max resolution and I've still got the black bars, also, how can I get sound via HDMI? it says its not plugged in (in sound mix options) and the other options don't work.

Also, you know a computer is old when you still have the old steam logo.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I probably am) but I think that only semi-modern AMD cards (6xxx and up(??)) support sound through HDMI, as they have an on-board audio processor. And TVs are notorious for having scaling problems with computers for some reason.

well'p, windows 10 upgrades are now reservable

so now to figure out how to disable that program because i have no plans to replace windows 8.1 on my pc, nor will i ever have plans to do so

i'll probably let it replace my windows 7 partition though, i don't really use it, then i'll replace my windows 10 tech preview partition with some distro of linux (probably mint)

Random Questions with the new update does Beamng support SLI yet? I got two nvidia geforce 560's for free. Yes I know they are old but I was running a AMD 7770 the single nvidia 560 runs the game at a 50-60fps on the "long rally" timed race thing. Way over 100fps on the grid map with 2 cars. With the semi it runs around 30-40fps on the grid map. Back to the question does it support SLI? And if not is there a way to make it?

Not recommended, SSDs don't like sudden loss of power.

Anyway, it can be done. If you have Hotswapping for that SATA port on the motherboard enabled, when you unplug it Windows will treat it as if you just removed a USB memory stick. If you don't have hotswapping enabled, it will probably either blue screen the computer or corrupt the SSD or both. There's been cases where nothing bad will happen, but I wouldn't take the chance.

EDIT: Wait, if it's the boot drive that Windows is running off of, it will bluescreen almost instantly. And maybe damage the SSD.

Got a PS2 slim for $15. Ordered stuff like a controller (since ours are all broken) and a power cord. I opened it up and there's plastic over the thermal pads.. I peeled half of it off:

I removed the system drive (HDD though) from an old XP laptop with Windows running, ran for a good 2 minutes before it bluescreened.

I just realised that build is very similar to one of my PCPP builds (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/bluescreen1985/saved/hP8mP6), did you use that as a base?

It seems if I turn DOWN the resolution to 1600x900 (I think that is what it was at, i'm at school currently) and the black bars went away, but now I'm running a lower resolution -.- I wouldn't mind IF I wasn't streaming PC games, I still get black bars around the TV when I stream a game from my main PC, but I've discovered something very interesting.

As my TV is right next to my gaming set up (But I'm streaming the games because I don't have cords long enough nor do I want to constantly be unplugging stuff) I noticed something, the picture looked SMOOTHER on my TV than it did on my monitor (Even when not streaming as I loaded BeamNG on the old computer), even tho the FPS was the same, capped at 60 (steam game streaming puts the cap on).

Also, I don't think the audio will be too much of an issue for game streaming, since my PC is right next to me, I can just pop on my Astro A50's (I'm a wireless freak) and have happy days, but when I'm watching movies in bed I think I'll have to stick to my iPad or one of my consoles (360, ps3 & ps4)

Also (sorry for long post) I'll send pictures of the crazy rice computer XD its full of stickers and has horrible LED lighting in it.

Also, how did you know it was a AMD card? O_O

Because sound through HDMI is an AMD exclusive thing right now, and you said you were using an HDMI cable and asking about the lack of sound. 2+2+2=6

    6 is my favorite number.
6 is also the core count of my old FX-6100.
    6/2=3
    A triangle has 3 sides.
The illuminati uses a triangle as their symbol.
    AMD is illuminati.
    Illuminati confirmed, Half-Life 3 release date 6/6/6.

The windows 10 update looks like it is tied to the mobo like an OEM license. Be careful upgrading and expect the worst.
