It's official, OS X 10.10 has killed my MacBook's performance. It's running like an absolute pig. Fuck you, Yosemite.
Yeah, it's definitely slowed down my 2012 Retina MacBook Pro in some areas. Windows 8 via bootcamp is so much smoother.
Steve Jobs must be turning in his grave right now. Especially with the multiple screen sized iPhones and iPad mini etc. At this point we should attach him to a turbine and enjoy the infinite energy. - - - Updated - - - Holy crap They have updated their terms. Creators will earn 55% of profits from adverts and the same from paid subscriptions. I dont monetize so its not of interest to me but to some it may be.
It's like Fallout 3, with much simpler gameplay and many more quests. Also you have bows and magic instead of guns and energy weapons. Melee is pretty much the same and it still sucks. Also it's 2ez in anything below Expert difficulty.
How much was it before? For comparison. Since I have my steam up here I'll add near anyone. Don't accept level 0 people though.
A guy just came buy from Craigslist buying the hard drive, battery, and charger from that old HP computer I tore down a while ago. $14. Not too shabby.
I have no idea how much it was before. It was more the payed YouTube for no ads system that they are trying to implement. I wonder if they will try and crack down on adblock usage now, the people who pay will probably make up the losses from people who block. My big issue with that email is how they mention that revenue has gone up 200% when all YouTubers who have made comments about their profits say they have gone down significantly recently hence why they are using patreon and other services more now.
Does anybody have any good book suggestions? Right now I'm reading the Lord of the Rings series, but I will be finished soon.
http://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.Item&itemid=42&acctid=2724 I'd really like to buy a police spec charger. Cheap. That one's even got the 5.7l hemi. It'd probably turn into a money pit though.
Anyone know of a good free recording program? I used fraps to make a crappy little video but I'm having fun and might want to make it longer than 30 seconds. Editing is also an issue. I had a free trial of vegas but it expired. VIDEO DONE! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA4EUx1QZbo 1080p60, though it was actually 45-50. It's an inspirational video about how anyone can achieve their dreams. EDIT: May not work for you guys. Youtube says still processing, assuming it is being distributed to other servers or something. I added crappy stock youtube music.
for scifi i would say the Silo series. the best books ive read. for fantasy, The Sea of trolls by nancy farmer
I'll be lazy and just recommend the last few books I've read: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - A comedic, surrealistic romp through post-earth outer space. Lots of interesting things to be uncovered, but only for those with either the endurance or sense of humor to wade though the sea of random and ridiculous goings-on throughout. [*]Fight Club - a rediscovery of masculinity in the modern age. It doesn't quite have the bite [or the ending] that the film does, but via intense, detailed description, brings you into the story's setting very well. Just beware, it's liable to get you on a few government watch lists. [*]World War Z - a political, militant, economic, and logistical evaluation of a zombie plague, presented as survivor stories during Earth's recovery. Believable, in-depth, filled with interesting stories and perspectives, and terrifying in a whole new way for zombie fiction. And it's written by Mel Brook's son, so, there's that. [*]Private Yankee Doodle - an autobiography of a Revolutionary War soldier. By far the most obscure on this list, the story portrays not only the few battles the writer partook in, but also shows that even 250 years ago, soldiers were still spending their down time doing stupid shit. Great if you like your history with a healthy dose of humanity. [*]Frankenstein - a classic case of Victorian prose about a classic case of womb envy. It's interesting to see how two centuries of melodrama and embellishment have changed the work of fiction, and how radically different the book is than any of the films and most of the stage plays. However, I will warn you: the book is frustrating. Royally. I had to have spent at least twenty hours the summer I read this wishing myself to be in the main character's shoes, just so I could be less idiotic than he was with every minute decision. A very different kind of horror.
Funny thing is after i watched the video it said the next video was "Windows 98 Destruction" (where some guy basically destroys a poor win 98 computer by putting loads of viruses in it)
Guys do you know what star wars song this is? It is a very well known orchestra song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAah8xPwr-g I hear it in many TV commercials all the time.
A rather odd book (but at the top of this list) is little brother. It's set in about now, but written in 2008, so the references and tech are a bit wonky. It being a tech based thing (hackers and stuff) makes it a little cringe-y at times, but it's an interesting read. Has a sequel or two also, but I haven't got around to them yet. Stupid school work. If you haven't read the maze runner series and want to read a series (I reccomend you read them all if you read the first one) that really, REALLY, will mess with your emotions (GoT style) read it. If you've read the first Percy Jackson series there is a second one. Not quite as good IMO but it continues the story and might lead to another series. Ending seems a little rushed, but it's good. If you like very dark, violent books there is the tunnels series. I never got through it it was so bad, but they were very interesting. I was like 11-12 at the time though.
