here's a thought straight out of left field for the nationality of the new rig, russian? maybe? It kinda has that Kamaz look to it.
If we get a russian vehicle it can ONLY be a shitty sedan made for 4 more decades then it should have been produced
Yes, and plus unfortunately due to godawful politics nobody would really make any Russian stuff (e.g. scs putting Russia dlc on hold, as if trees and roads and buildings have anything to do with the current shit)
That is true - however, both of those are petrol engines. The T and HT would both use diesel engines (most likely in the T's case (see: GMC Twin Six), absolutely in the HT's), so the sounds wouldn't work for them. The V16 sounds in the game are apparently for a 7.4L OHV V16 (which perfectly matches the Cadillac 16's engine), so a '30s car with a V16 could happen, but I don't find it very likely. As for a V6 in the MD or D/H, the devs have never used the same number of cylinders in different formats (i.e. V6s and inline-sixes) in the same vehicle: Factory: -'96 Pessima, Nine/LeGran/Lansdale/Wendover: inline-fours, V6s/V8s -D/H/T/Roamer, WL-40, Barstow/Bluebuck/Burnside/Moonhawk: inline-sixes, V8s -K/800: inline-fours/sixes, V8 This even holds true for aftermarket swaps. The Scintilla and Bolide only have Vs, the Hopper and BX both get V8s, the Piccolina gets flat-fours (even in the Autobuggy), and the Pigeon/Wigeon get inline-fours. It seems to me that the devs really don't want to have any overlapping engines - so, if a vehicle has a V6, it won't get a flat-six or inline-six. (I think an inline-four diesel for the D/H would be neat, but diesels are already rare outside of big trucks or Euro sedans/hatches, so I don't find that likely.) The aforementioned V12 sounds are for a 5.8L DOHC unit - probably the M137, which is very similar to the M120. So...that might be a possibility. However, I think the V12 and V16 sounds are just meant to be there for modders to use. The devs don't really seem interested in going above 10 cylinders any time soon - they're much more interested in making mass-market cars, likely because those tend to have more customization options and variants. Which is a bit of a shame - the devs have already proven that they can re-use models and textures to make longer engines (see: Bastion V6/V8, Lansdale/Wendover V6/V8, FCV inline-3/4/5). The '96 Pessima V6 could be stretched into a V12 (since it's the only 60* V6 we have in-game) and stuck into a Century-like limo based on the BX platform. But that probably wouldn't have enough new technologies to feature, so I don't think that's happening.
These, at the bottom? They don't have any naming conventions that would signify a particular engine, like every new blend from 0.31 onward has.
I was going off the wiki page for BeamNG engines, so I could be wrong about that. I think the wiki was going off what the Automation devs used for their engine sounds? But I'm not sure about that. Those sounds have been in the game for ages.
Screw politics, I want a shitty Soviet vehicle. Plus if we go by politics, American vehicles are iffy. Whats funny to think about, If all the worlds events do create WW3 (God don’t let that happen) the iran war will probably be where historians agree it started.
Miramar is really similar to Vaz 2101-2107, i think that 2110-2112 would be fine because it's unique enough and has door display which shows which one is open, and with that we could get the first official car in the game that does show a lamp that the door is open
I think there's enough degrees of separation between the Soviet Union and their controversies, and the contemporary actions of modern nations, that a 50's-80's soviet design wouldn't spark much controversy in itself. Especially since it's one of the few often-requested archetypes that hasn't gotten any official content. The bigger problem with Soviet cars is actually a lot more pedestrian: we don't have the map content for one. They don't make sense to be seen in any of the American maps, ATT, or JRI, and they wouldn't be exactly common for Italy. If the prospective vehicle were an off-brand Trabi, they might not be too foreign a sight for ETK, but that map is famously not much of a map to begin with. IMO, the thing BeamNG is lacking the most right now is map content, and I feel like that's going to weigh against future vehicle content. The DDR was still a member nation of the Soviet Union. So while there is a lingering tendency to view "Soviet" as being equivalent to "Russian," as the Soviet Union began in Russia, and that it would be disingenuous to claim that every member state helmed an equal amount of political power, I would still consider the Trabi to be squarely Soviet. Spoiler: Politics-ish And if WW3 does happen, I sure hope there will be any historians left to debate the origin of the conflict... ...and I do think it would wind up being a debate. WWII, for instance, has quite a slew of possible ignition points: the Invasion of Poland in 1939 is the most commonly-viewed starting point, but you still have the first deployment of German weapons to a Fascist ally with the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), the dissolution of the Weimar Republic by the German far-right in 1933, the Great Depression sending Germany into the place of desperation and anger that led to said dissolution, starting in 1929, or the German loss of WWI in 1918 that fueled much of the sense of anger and betrayal, thus resulting in much of the conspiratorial theorycrafting that would be later co-opted by fascists. And that's just Germany. Nevermind the invasion of Manchuria by the Imperial Japanese in 1931. With really, really big things (like world events), it can be hard to pinpoint what started it all, if you could even know it was just one thing.
East Germany,[f] officially the Dance Dance Revolution (DDR),[g] was a country in Central Europe from its formation on 7 October 1949 until its reunification with West Germany (Federal Republic of Germany) on 3 October 1990. Until 1989, it was generally viewed as a communist state and described itself as a socialist workers' and peasants' state. source: https://stupidedia.org
If I wanted a soviet vehicle, I would like more a 8x8 (or more) truck like the MaZ 535/7,and 16x16 MZKT-79221, MaZ-7917 or the modern KAMAZ-7850 alike
IIRC, most of the BIG Soviet vehicles were manufactured in more central member states, like Russia or Ukraine. I'm also not sure we'd see anything quite that large, for three reasons: Anything that large would have trouble driving within the official maps. Low-lying trees, lightposts, road signs, and street furniture would all either phase though it or stop it cold, to say nothing of a turn radius that is almost certainly comparable to the bends in some rivers lol. The haul truck is probably the biggest thing we're likely to get, and even it is small in comparison to some haul trucks out there. Anything that large exists for pretty much one reason and one reason alone: to transport, stage, and launch weapons of mass destruction. I love all that Cold War shit, but the devs don't exactly have a penchant for creating purpose-built weapons in their game, especially ones that remind us of the once, and now again looming prospect of the end of human civilization. There were almost certainly other uses for vehicles like those, but I can't help but feel like it would have been secondary to their ability to launch Stone Age: The Sequel 9000. And, ...even if the devs felt comfortable putting a mobile ICBM platform in their game, the cascade of expectations that would fall from that are absurd. IIRC, one of the reasons we still haven't gotten a proper official firetruck is because the community would expect that if there is a firetruck, it should be able to spray water. And if there is a firetruck, and one that can spray water, that it should be able to wet the ground onto which it is spraying. And if there is a firetruck, which can spray water, and wet the ground, that it should be able to put out fires. And if there is a firetruck, which can spray water, which can in turn wet the ground and put out fires, that changing the environment settings (wind, temperature, etc) should be able to impact that puddle and turn it to ice. And so on, and so on, ad infinitum. Now picture that kind of scope problem, but now you're trying to simulate ballistic trajectories over continental distances and runaway fission reactions. I certainly would love for there to be a big, beefy 6x6 or 8x8 Soviet landship, but more on the scale of a Dakar truck or Arctic explorer, not a moving metal landmass meant for flash-broiling human bodies in the tens of millions.
