looking in this https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/programming/virtualmachines/#source-code-location I realised that contacting gelua from a vehicle's controller is different. I'm not fully sure, some use [[]] and some use a string.format thing
Hello. I updated a lot of documentation related to recent game changes. I'd be happy to hear your feedback https://documentation.beamng.com/modding/lighting/
I love the part about the blender workflow, it's really useful Would these kind of workflow tips be added to other things in the future? One i'm thinking of particularly are tires, since right now you can't do much but copy vanilla tires and experiment afterwards
The download link for the plate font template in the license plate tutorial leads to a 404 Not Found error when visited. http://documentation.beamng.com/mod...ense-plate-tutorial/template-reference/#fonts http://documentation.beamng.com/modding/vehicle/tutorials/license-plate-tutorial/platefont.zip
Can confirm the message above, I am trying to update my PW pack plates for 0.39 and the font template link is dead
Hi, wondering if anyone can help since the documentation on configs hasnt been updated. What is 'vehiclesData.vivace.Description' referring to for example. I cant find any files defining certain descriptions and names and things for vehicles. You would simply write the description inside the json file before 0.39
When creating a config and saving it, you can write the description without needing to go to the files. some might find it easier
Yeh i know about that, im just confused as to why everything in the info json has been changed to things like 'vehiclesData.insertvehiclename.Name' and where it is actually pulling the description from. Seems unnecessarily complicated when you can just type the name or the description verbatum.
it's in the game directory>locales it's a directive for translations, so it can be in multiple languages. You can just clear that, and write your own in english if you'd like
ahh thank you sir, that makes sense. So it doesnt affect anything besides not being translatable when you use the old method?
yep. I don't know how to create a mod with custom translations, but I know it's possible to have your own local files, and directives. So you can have: `"Description":"vehiclesData.citybus.highway.Description",` or `"Description":"this is a string of my description, and can say almost anything I want, except sometimes special characters won't work.",` You will actually see stuff like this all over the place, especially if you get into UI modding, but that gets a little more complicated with HTML.
Hello. I am not sure if this is the place to ask this but... The BeamNG documentation on "making configurations and info files" told me to download a "AutomaticTestingRoutine.zip" folder in order to automatically fill out some information on the car. I unzipped the zip folder, added the name and file location of the car I wanted to test into the "work.json" file, and moved the files into my BeamNG Steam install folder of the game. Yet when I ran it after loading it immediately crashed. I turned off all my mods and validated my game files but it still didn't work, was the documentation outdated in this specific case? Or have I done something wrong? (heres the contents of the work.json file) [{"type": "testVehiclesPerformances", "vehicle":"240bx_hatch_rally_asp_skellie", "pcFile":"C:\users\user\AppData\Local\BeamNG\BeamNG.drive\current\vehicles\bx"}] Thanks a lot.
