I wasn't big fan of 0.24 UI lol. It was very slow and it just wasn't that good. 0.39 UI is better in my opinion...
i liked how it looked, but it functioned not so great at times and took a long time to load some ui sections. this ui is the opposite of both, imo (looks not-so-great, but it functions really well if I do say so myself, even tells me how long the vehicle selector takes, which i was picky about beforehand)
Bro it definitely isn't "objectively awful"... It is objectively better to use with controllers. Also the performance is objectively better (at least on my end). I also think the layout and design could be tweaked in a few spots, but in general it's an improvement to the last UIs. It's also consistent with the rest of the menu as well.
In the 'trip computer' interface app, it only shows you the distance, it doesn't let you switch to see fuel consumption, range, etc.
I love the update so far. It actually might be one of my favorite updates that I've seen from BeamNG. They really popped off with this update. The only issues for me are this: I wish there was an option to turn off the bloom. I seem to be running into an issue with the auto-exposure making the environment far too dark at times. Alongside that, the Bastion windshield is unbelievably dark and it makes it very difficult to drive at night-time in cockpit view. The sirens on the Bastion police cruiser seem to glitch out at times. The AI modes have been removed from the radial menu which makes disabling the "flee" AI after chases quite tedious. The "flee" AI drives extremely slow for some reason. Windshields are white if a vehicle behind has headlights on
Yeah, I noticed they removed the AI modes from the radial menu. As a person who uses the AI modes quite a bit I am not very happy with this change.
Hello, does anyone else suffer from entire screen going black, game becoming unresponsive and having to force close it after fiddling with UI elements? i7 12700k, 32GB DDR5 4400, RTX 2080Ti Happened on both my Windows install (fresh install no leftover files, nothing in appdata) using DirectX 12, as well as my Bazzite install (same case, fresh install nothing leftover) happened both in Native and Proton GE-11.2 Easiest way to reproduce it so far is just try going through menus quickly, adjust things, open expendable menus. Poof black screen you have to restart the entire process.
-The paint on custom configs is automatically saved in the "custom" section of paints, not the user section. I don't know if this is a bug or intentional, but it can lead to unnecessary clutter. The only user-generated paints that should be saved are those manually added to the user section. -Said it before, but the whole way we now save/load custom configs is more convoluted than before. Having to manually retype the name of the config to overwrite a previous version is unintuitive. I can only imagine PS5 players without a keyboard, and how even more tedious it will be for them.
The new UI would be perfect if they just added back the graphics and vehicle selector to the main bar. Genuinely why the fuck is graphics under display, or that the vehicle selector, The most important menu, is in a sub category
No hate for having a lower end machine, absolutely none at all. I actually deleted my original message because I felt it threw too much shade at people with low end hardware which was not the intent at all. However, I find it worth pointing out that there comes a point in time when it is necessary to leave old, slow hardware in the dust in the interest of progress, and perhaps 0.39 is that time. In order for the game to march forward and keep looking and playing better and better, it will have to become more and more demanding. This is why developers are no longer making games for the Xbox One and PS4, for example. Their old, slow hardware simply cannot keep up with even bare minimum settings on modern titles, and a title designed specifically for them would by nature be forced to make compromises in rendering, physics complexity, asset quality, and other systems so that it could still run on hardware that is over a decade old. At some point, continuing to support that hardware begins to limit what the developers can add for everyone else. The same principle applies on PC. Developers can't realistically optimize around every possible hardware configuration, especially those that are many years behind current midrange systems. Instead, they have to focus on the hardware that represents the bulk of their player base. Looking at the most common CPUs and GPUs according to the Steam Hardware Survey, that means targeting relatively modern 6- to 8-core CPUs and mainstream GPUs like the RTX 4060, rather than designing every new feature around hardware that was already entry-level several generations ago. I recognize that this does leave lower-end hardware like yours behind, but unfortunately that's a tradeoff that has to be made if the game is going to keep advancing.
It's an artificial limit, not a fact, and the devs announced that the spawn limits will be removed in a later hotfix
As an outlier in computer performance I've noticed something that I thought was interesting - before this update I would get around 100fps on maximum graphics on most maps. With traffic (15 cars, 40 parked cars) I would drop to around 40-60fps. My specs are 9800X3D, 5090, 64gb ram, 5k2k resolution, so if anything i was CPU bound by the traffic amount as I found the limit. Now, without traffic my frames are about 60-90fps, but with max traffic (15 cars, 15 pooled, 50 parked), I only drop to at least 50fps. Which makes me wonder how/if the optimizations affected higher end computers already at their limit because of gameplay choice? I'm not able to test with more vehicles as the strict limit is the above for now but I'm curious how these optimizations affect my personal gameplay, since I seem to be GPU "bound" right now as opposed to before.
I'm having issues changing my settings, I change them in the main menu options menu and they go back/switch to default whenever i change tabs, and then when i try to change them in freeeroam they revert IMMEDIATELY. I've tried messing with my files by getting rid of read only and also screwing with windows defender and just about anything you can think of under the sun, please help
@any dev member....This is a list of every bug or shortcoming I've personally encountered, minus the common complaints (auto exposure, etc.): -The FPS indicator overlay is now in a pretty bad spot because the "system/vehicle/environment" menu occupies the exact same spot -The wheels selector STILL starts back at the top of the list. It's been like that for a while and it makes more sense to go to the highlighted wheel you currently have, because chances are you're selecting a wheel that's the same dimensions or atleast close to the same dimensions as the one you have on currently -The menu navigation could use a little polishing; it feels a little more cumbersome than before. I assume a lot of it is to make it easier for controller players -The vehicle tab with the vertical menu where you can select through "vehicle config, repair vehicle, recover vehicle to last road, flip the vehicle upright"...I have trouble using the analog stick on my controller. That little menu is wonky where it doesn't want to let me select "vehicle config". If I use the D-pad it's fine, though. -Textures in general for terrain seem a little off as well. The LOD is very short, even with everything maxed out. I'm getting the grass and other details coming in only a few car lengths ahead; it's worse when driving faster. The textures look very flat beyond that -The save/load/delete custom configs seems less intuitive than before. To delete a config, the game is supposed to take you to your user config folder, and from there, you're supposed to manually delete the config? -Custom Ardente configs automatically saves to the Vivace -If you click the search bar in the vehicle config, sometimes the first time you start typing, it won't register as you're actually in the search bar. It's annoying if your search starts with "F" because then you exit the vehicle, obviously, as it acts like it isn't ready to receive your inputs the first time. -The image is INCREDIBLY noisy at speeds. If you're not moving, it's fine. In motion, every surface on the vehicle is very noisy, like TV static. Keep in mind, I have the graphics set to max. Vulkan/DX12 doesn't matter. It's the same. -Shadows in your mirror's reflection can be a bit wonky. Depending on your distance from an object, say another car, that other car's shadow can disappear/reappear depending on distance or angle, or whatever. Usually can't see shadows unless that other car is right beside me. -You can either turn live updates all the way off or all the way. Before, you could leave live updates on, so swapping vehicle parts could be done instantly, but in the tuning menu, you could adjust sliders and values without the game automatically updating them. Now, you have to have the same for both. I think it was more intuitive to have parts swapping be instant (because they're visual changes), and tuning could be applied with the apply button. -I run Vulkan, and small gridmap is pretty bugged. The paint on the car flashbangs me repeatedly. The sun seems unusually dim? And the ground pattern has a weird randomness; it spazzes out. I don't know how else to describe it. -Neon underglow lights shine through the vehicle (can see them on the floor from the interior cam) -Button boxes seem more finicky than before. Things like opening doors or latches are hit or miss -The paint on custom configs is automatically saved in the "custom" section of paints, not the user section.
What is actually happening here? Validated the install, Tried fidling the settings in both DX and Vulkan and in safemode until i noticed the depthmap visualaztion is black, Is this the culprit? Environment reflections messed up and Anti Aliasing goes haywire aswell. Running a 5090 and Ryzen 9900x
