the el camino and ford's grand ranchero are the only 2 utes to ever be sold in america

sadly at the time there wasn't a big enough market for them here in america, so GM/Chevy and FMC stopped selling them here (reason i said selling and not making is because i imagine they were just rebadged versions of the holden utes and the FPV utes from AUS)

Actually, the El Camino/Ranchero had no relation to the Australian Holden or Ford model (with the exception of the Ranchero models of the 60s, which were essentially a US Falcon). The El camino was based on the Chevelle, and 70's Ranchero models onwards are based on the Torino

First is not an El Camino, but rather appears to be a Holden with El Eamino badges put on it (seeing as how much we love to put chevy badges on our stuff:rolleyes:)

Second was not intended for America (the Caprice there was entirely different), I believe these went to South Africa or something like that.

third, no idea what it is (it's obviously a Monaro with a different front fascia though), but I'm very sure they were not released in America

Conclusion: Australia's Holden models are not rebadged American models and vice versa, the bodies (and most engines) are completely different.

Don't want to seem rude but it is a El camino, it was sold in South Africa.

I do agree however that Holden/Ford(Aus) had nothing to do with the El caminos and Ranchero of the day in America.

Either way the news about the new car maker starting to build here is plain stupid in my opinion if anything in the last 24 months it has just become completely impossible to make cars in Australia due to the new trade agreements. Don't get me wrong I hope they do well but its just not right for this day and age.

That would make sense, seeing as South Africa has the steering wheel on the correct side of the vehicle, LHD Chevrolet models are not suitable, thus they used Holdens (and for whatever reason badge them as a Chevrolet).

Join the "chevy ss performance sedan" group on facebook, the majority of owners have put Holden badging on theirs, some even go so far as to get Holden airbags.

Dosn't change the fact that GM are assholes, Why can't they leave the holden badge on? Instead of tricking people into thinking that our quality cars are all "American"

Localisation is not a term you've heard of is it.

Most people won't buy a random car that they've never heard off. Same way you wouldn't buy a Great Wall Wingle 5 if it arrived at your local dealer.

Chevrolet is discontinuing the Camero (again) and are supposedly, according to Holden (weirdly), that they'll be bringing back another classic name.

If it's not a (natively) LHD Commedore Ute (look, America's new El Camino!), someone's going to become a ghost.

Well, I mean, is it cheap? I'd buy it if it's cheaper than a Nissan Versa.

They would know what a holden is if GM hadn't been putting shitty Chevy badges on for so many years

Sure, if you want the Americans to think Holden had the audacity to badge engineer a bunch of Korean shopping trolleys and market them as premium city runabouts. Looking at you, Chevy Spark

Holden is part of GM so who cares what shape the badge is they're part of the same company as Chevrolet anyway.
