I've been working on rebranding a few real car mods for my own BeamMP server recently and I think this most recent creation is decent enough quality to share. With TwoTwoNine's permission I took their Pontiac Aztek mod, polished it up to support some of the newer versions' features, and rebranded it as a Soliad Inkan, complete with an appropriately wobbly roof tent modelled loosely after the real Aztek's tent. Outside of the rebadging, improvements to the original mod include: Fixed missing and incorrectly mapped glass textures (the ETK I-Series textures it shared had been remapped in an update) Shifter is now animated and accurate to the selected gear Headlight dial is now animated Fixed smoothing on various parts Added roof tent to Roof slot Smooth electrics added to all lights Added latch checks so that the lower tailgate cannot be opened or closed before the upper tailgate New custom sounds for both engines Known issues: Internal files and part names are still listed as Aztek, will likely conflict with the actual Aztek mod (although I presume most will only want one at a time anyway) The tent is fairly basic in detail and can spike in crashes Dynamic mirrors not yet supported Credits: TwoTwoNine - Pontiac Aztek mod Hum3D - Original 3D model https://www.texturecan.com/details/209/ - Cloth Normal Map for tent Turn 10 Studios - Engine Sounds In the grand scheme these are fairly quick-and-dirty rebadges with no design changes to the actual cars, so don't expect anything amazing, just little tweaks to make them less out of place among the vanilla cars. If there's more interest in this standard of work then definitely let me know - I have a few other mod rebrands stocked up and I can look into getting permissions and polishing them up for release if there's enough demand. Changes in V1.01: Damaged windscreen issue should now be fixed Renamed materials shared from base Beam cars to hopefully prevent overlap and conflicts
Nice rebadge, but the broken windshield bug occurs for me too. I would suggest a more soliad-ish nameplate for the configs
Does this happen for all configs or just certain ones? Never had this issue while working on it, re-tested with the released version and surely enough it's all fine.
Could be, I usually test with only my mod enabled just to make sure everything works standalone. Do you have a ton of mods installed or few enough to warrant sharing your list?
The one thing I would say is adding a 3rd to the PRNDL, of the automatic transmission(s). That was a new feature added in 0.38, I believe. It's a little thing but would help given the PRND321 pattern of the shifter.
My current mod counter is ~100, but I just deactivated every mod, cleared cache, reentered the game and the windshield is still broken. So i dont think that it is a mod conflict. I installed the mod in Safe mode and the car still spawns with a broken windshield
Very strange, I'll see if I can make it happen as I work on it and hopefully get to the bottom of it.
This is incredible! Personally, I think this should be a continued trend, with IRL car mods getting lore-friendly versions. This, as well as the AW Type 1 are great examples of this. Looking forward to what other cars you've got planned! I've also experienced the broken windshield bug, but it doesn't completely ruin the experience for me. I've seen mods with worse bugs upon release, but do hope it can be fixed in the future. Really happy to see another Soliad mod, keep up the great work!
Alright, got a bit of an update on the windshield situation. I spawned through a bunch of the vanilla cars and found two that have the same issue while the Inkan mod is activated. Those being the second generation Ibishu Pessima and the Soliad Lansdale. I also noticed that the second generation Pessima also has some No Texture going on with the gauge cluster while the Inkan is activated, but I'm not 100% certain if that's related or not. So, it looks like we have our culprits, as far as what's causing the Inkan's broken windshield issue, it's likely a conflict with the glass of both of those vanilla models (which tells me that they share a mutual windshield texture), hopefully this can help with fixing the issue.
Appreciate the troubleshooting effort, but unfortunately I don't think it's those, as the original mod only ever shared from a pre-update version of the ETK I, but one of the fixes I made was to copy those into the Aztek's own folder so that it didn't conflict or use a new one. I can't see anything that would clash with the Lansdale or Pessima. The thing I need to get to the bottom of is if it's a .jbeam issue where the window is actually breaking on spawn, or if it's just a material issue where it's somehow loading the damage texture for the undamaged version. I do, I already have some WIP lore versions of the likes of the Crown Vic and Skoda Octavia, they just need more polish and then the creators contacting for permissions.
No problem, just thought that there might be a chance that could help. I'm certain it can be fixed, regardless of what the issue is, and I'm also certain there's others here who'd be willing to assist in working on the fix. Sadly, I myself am not a modder, otherwise I'd offer additional help with it. Those sound like some neat models to work on. I know there's some unfinished IRL car mods on the forums, maybe if you'd be able to fix/finish some of the originals, their creators might allow lore-friendly versions to be made, as well? First one that comes to mind for me is JorgePinto's Renault Mégane Scénic, which the unfinished version is available for anyone to try their hand at fixing. It'd certainly make a nice Cherrier, if permission was to be granted. There's some other quality mods here on the forums that could be good for lore-friendly versions, but some of the ones I can think of would likely fit in brands specifically created by mod creators (brands like AW (Volkswagen), Arima (Toyota), Sanbatsu (Suzuki), Daikisei (Daihatsu), TAZ (AutoVAZ), etc.), which would make it even more challenging.
