I think it was Stenyak on Reddit who confirmed that the tire overhaul will be rolled out incrementally over a series of updates. What that means as far as tangible improvements and when we get them is anyone’s guess
Even a non-powered amphibious trailer would be fun. and it would give us something reasonable to do with the tow hitch on the Wydra.
That is fair enough - however, the Pigeon has had a plastic body for its entire life, and it was released in 0.3.1 (June 2014). The Wigeon (June 2021) and Wydra (December 2022) are also mostly/entirely plastic, and we've had more carbon-fiber parts for vehicles in recent years. (The modern Ami uses a chassis made of metal.) So, I don't think the Ami having plastic panels would prevent it from happening in-game. That would be a modern sub-compact car, and I think the issue with that (for the devs) is that it'd be too similar to the Covet in size, but not different enough from the FCV. The sixth- and seventh-gen Ford Fiestas, for instance, are less than 100mm longer and about 100kg heavier. The current-gen Toyota Yaris is also around the same size and weight as the Covet. An A-segment vehicle would be small enough to be different from the Covet and FCV, while a quadricycle could become the smallest and lightest vehicle in the roster (as I've mentioned in previous posts). I'm surprised we didn't get an amphibious trailer for the Wydra during 0.30-0.33. To be fair, maybe we'll have an update that focuses on the tiny trailers (like the small flatbed and especially the travel trailer) in the near future. I absolutely love muscle GTs/supers - my favorite car of all time is the Pantera, and several of my top-50 are also vehicles of this category (the Jensen FF and Facel-Vega Excellence go so hard). Re-using engines (and other parts) has also become common practice in recent years (see: Wendover/Lansdale, SPs, Autobuggy, Wigeon, WL-40, MD-Series), and there's been extremely little backlash over that. Some people might want a new sports car to use a new engine, but I think many more would be happy with any new sports/super car after four years. We could even get a new nation through one of these vehicles - and unlike the Wydra, it would be popular with the general player base (especially the racing crowd). A muscle GT/supercar could be from Canada (Felino CB7), the UK (Ultima, Jensen, Bristol, AC, and a slew of others), the Netherlands (Vencer), Denmark (Zenvo), Sweden (Koenigsegg), Switzerland (Monteverdi), Australia (Brabham), Bulgaria (SIN), or just about anywhere else. Another option is to take the Cherrier engines, ETK V8, Hirochi flat-four, or Civetta V10 and drop one of those into a sports car from a new nation (i.e. Spyker or Doonkervort from the Netherlands, Spania from Spain, Zenos or Caterham from the UK, Chamonix from Brazil, W Motors from the UAE). We don't really have a retro-styled modern car in the game, either - thankfully, a fair few of these smaller sports car makers make retro-style cars, so it could kill two birds with one stone without having to make a new engine. It might even be able to re-use suspension parts from the current fleet, which would make it even cheaper to develop. Maybe one of these vehicles (or multiple) could be made for the tyre or aero updates.
There has been a problem with the oversteer reduction assistant and the understeer reduction assistant for a long time. If you hold down the handbrake during a drift, these assistants start to work incorrectly. The steering wheel starts to jerk very much, which is annoying and leads to frequent turns of the car. --- Post updated --- There has been a problem with the oversteer reduction assistant and the understeer reduction assistant for a long time. If you hold down the handbrake during a drift, these assistants start to work incorrectly. The steering wheel starts to jerk very much, which is annoying and leads to frequent turns of the car. This problem is clearly visible at the end of the video: --- Post updated --- Also, I found another problem. It's not on all cars. For example: it's on the red one, but not on the blue one. The problem is that if you flash the high beam while the low beam is on, the high beam lights turn on without animation. They also turn off without animation, and there's a delay. However, the light from high beam lights turn on and off smoothly, without any delays. This issue is demonstrated in the following video:
I think there's a couple other vehicles where the wipers are already separate pieces. The Vivace also has the wipers strangely as part of the dashboard instead of the windshield. This theory does kinda get knocked down by the fact that the HT-55 still has a windshield combo for its wiper. I have never noticed that, precisely because the plastic parts contort the same way metal ones do. I wonder if/when we can expect a better destruction system.
The wydra is made of fiber-glass instead of plastic. this material is more resistant than the plastic.
I just want a 1960s Italian V12 GT so bad haha Something with a nice engine note, exotic styling, a nice interior with a wood/aluminium steering wheel, and Borrani wire wheels with fat tires. I think a mix of Ferrari 250GT Lusso, Iso Grifo and Toyota 2000GT would be perfect
I would like that, as a lot of the other small trailers are also lacking in parts or customization. The small utility trailers don't even support American license plates.
I am so cooked guys, I'm browsing these forums in my dreams now too. Absolutely beamrotted. The dream turned into a nightmare when I closed the tab with 5 more unread notifs.
Great news, beam peaked again! Great work devs, Have a celebration moonhawk ( here wishing/hopefull ) for it to be next for a remaster or just a sedan body BUT back on topic great news seeing it peaked
I agree with the SBR4 bit so hard. It's a fantastic sports car and I'm waiting for the devs to give it more love in the form of aftermarket, special trims (an Anniversary edition, tuner shop special, etc), different body kits between trims, and more to make it feel more like a serious sports car
That's a huge jump of 4000 concurrent players over the last 24hr peak a few months ago. BeamNG, have a yourself a day
Right, makes sense. I don't think I've noticed the Vivace wipers before (or at least, I didn't really think much of them). To be fair, as Metronome said, the Pigeon/Wigeon/Wydra use fiberglass instead of plain plastic, which has different crash properties. However, Caselani makes a retro body kit for the modern Ami that uses fiberglass body panels, and it's barely any heavier (471 kg vs. 458 kg). That would be swingin', indeed. Holy shit, you're right. Honestly, I think that the utility trailers could all be remastered and combined under one umbrella (or each given more customization, but I don't know if that's going to happen). And that wasn't even on Sunday, let alone the week around Christmas (when the big peaks usually happen), and already, 0.38's shattered every update except 0.27 for peak increases (0.27 had 4,618 more players than 0.26, while 0.38 has just had a peak increase of 3,999 players). However, 0.27's player counts trailed off after the first week - by Christmas, the daily peak was down to 19,962 players (compared to 20,691 players on the 17th). The same will probably happen with 0.38. Still, absolutely incredible performance. I'll be interested in seeing how much the average goes up after this update - we're already over 1,000 players up on 0.37 (18,789 vs. 17,619). The last three holiday updates raised the average by 2,000-3,000 players.
The types of vehicles the Pigeon and Wigeon are mechanically and dimensionally similar to (the Reliant Robin/Rialto and Bond Bug) both used fiberglass bodies, so it's most likely that the Pigeon/Wigeon are also fiberglass-bodied. Also, while we didn't break a new peak record today, I've noticed that there was a huge jump in the number of reviews for November 2019 (from ~700 to almost 4,000). I have no idea why that's the case - there were no updates dropped that month, and 0.18 didn't have very many teasers for it. My current theory is that AR162B's T-Series mod was very popular, but that was updated late into the month (the 26th). It couldn't have been BeamMP, as that was released in November of 2020. It had to have been a mod or traffic crashes becoming popular, or maybe the HDR videos that dropped in November. Regardless, it's become quite a trend in recent years for there to be a slew of reviews around Black Friday - December still has more overall, but I think that Black Friday's been the most profitable week for the devs for a while. Also, from May 2015 until October 2019, Beam got around 20,000 reviews in total. From November 2019 to December 2022 (0.27 release), the review count went up to 155,000. Now, that number's gone up to around 360,000.
