E28 Facelift: the front spoiler lip got a little bigger and the fog lights were integrated next to the indicators :)

But sometimes the "facelift" took place more under the hood. ;)

It was always weird that the I series doesn't have an I4, considering that the Audi 4000, E30 3-series and the 190E were all first and foremost 4-cylinder cars. The new engine model looks almost identical to the BMW M30, which was closely related to the M10 I4. Maybe they're planning a modular engine family kinda like the newer etks?

Im not as hopeful for new body styles tho. The 190E gives them an excuse to make it only a 4-door sedan even though a 2-door sedan/coupe thing like the 4000 or the 3 series would make perfect sense. upload_2025-11-15_12-36-8.jpeg
If the past couple remasters have taught us anything, an I-series remaster is 100% guaranteed to replace half of the configs with euro spec ones, but i'd be interested to see what happens to the "facelift" model. If it were up to me there would be no facelift, and the current "facelift" ones would be euro spec and the pre-facelift ones would be US spec (but with even chunkier bumpers and different headlights).

We could have euro-specs model. There is already the km/h gauges, it just needs fender mounted turn signals and smaller bumpers. It could also have, indeed, a fleet-spec variant with a straight-4 or even a Diesel engine.

The I-Series is more comparable in size to the E28 BMW 5-Series, C3 Audi 100/5000, and W124 Mercedes E-Class. The E28 was only available as a four-door sedan, but the W124 had a sedan, coupe, wagon, convertible, and even limousine versions. The C3 was available in sedan and wagon forms, just like the LeGran, 800, and Sunburst.

All three of those cars had inline-fours (2.0-2.3L in the W124, 1.8L in the C3 and E28), so hopefully, we'll get one of those with a refresh. A diesel four or six would be nice, as well. A V8 for a top-of-the-line TTSport version would be swell. We might get an inline-five - the C3 had several petrol and diesel units, and the W124 had a 2.5L diesel, but neither of the other ETKs have one.

As for facelifts, I'm hoping that the I-Series takes after the W124's example, with a longer production run and two facelifts. Maybe even a name change for the second, larger facelift, just like the W124 (which became the first E-Class in 1993). I doubt we'll be getting a '90s ETK any time soon, so might as well make the most of the I-Series.

Also, the E24 6-Series from '82-'89 used several parts from the E28, and the Audi Quattro used the platform of the B2 Audi 80/4000. So maybe, we could get a separate coupe model based on the I-Series (like we did with the LeGran/Wendover and 800/K). I don't think that would be a K-Series - it'd probably be a bit too large and upscale. But it would make for a nice RWD alternative to the Wendover.

i highly doubt it would get a remaster, the work theyve recently done on the new engine models and lights seems to be something like the miramar/mk1 pessima, which has been getting updates slowly to bring it up to current quality, maybe a refresh that stirs up the configs + adds some extra content, but i wouldnt expect much more

Nah, 800 handles like a dream. My favourite cars for handles are the Grand Marshal and Covet, they are fun to drive.
