When doing police chases with the in game AI, they always know where you are and spiral out of control and hit things constantly, making chases frustrating. what i suggest is gving the AI a line of sight. from the hood camera, the ai scans the surroundings and drives accordingly. and chases us from what it can see and hear. this may not be possible and very performance intensive. but it would be nice to see. <3

Its even worse actually... AI cops dont know when we are driving cop cars ourselves and will start chasing playercops as well for some idiotic reason LOL.
The entire police AI is half broken and always has been, unfortunately.
Considering how many people likes police chases, and it IS a natural thing that should be working in any good car game, I'm a bit frustrated this issue has not gotten more attention. Its not that hard to fix so the AI cops ignores players speeding when they are also using cop cars.
The game already knows if you are using a car with the word police in its config so come one devs. Get this fixed yeh?

Thats sounds like a problem with a mod or your system.

To my knowledge, I dont have a mod that affects AI. I suppose communitymade maps may do stuff to the AI depending what is possible to do in the world editor?
If the vehicle itself is a mod, that shouldn't matter at all as the only thing we need to do to become a police ourselves, is put the word police in config name?

My system? I dont think I understand that. The police thing works as far as random AI cars speed up a little and try to escape, with the little message saying so. And upon pushing them off the road or stopping them otherwise and stand next to them for a few moments, the message "suspect has been arrested" shows.
That much works. But I'm still being pursued myself if there are other AI police vehicles present.
That is what makes no sense. Sorry if I wasnt clarifying that enough.

    Some Additional Testing Later:

    Map: West Coast USA
Patrolcar: Gavril Grand Marshal: Police Interceptor (A)
AI cops initiated a chase, I join them and start the sirens - moments later game crashes.

After a game reload I decide to test another squadcar on same map.
    ETK 800-series - 844 Police (A)
This works better. A couple of successful chases, sometimes started by AI, sometimes started by me. AI cops join and starts to follow me without trying to shove me off the road if I'm speeding.
All looks good until I decide to park at a gas station and wait for speeders (kind of like real life cops can do :D )
Suddenly I hear sirens thinking its the AI in pursuit of another AI but instead, they come rushing in to this parking space at gas station and this time they do ram into me as if I had violated traffic rules.

More cars tested, modded ones this time so I wont bother writing their names here as they are well, mods lol
Same map, same behavior. It works as intended for a while. Sometimes I join their pursuits, other times they join me.
I park at same gas station to "ambush" a speeder or just go AFK in general, AI cops suddenly bumrush me and tries to arrest me.

Summary: This appears to be part of the known issues where police wont stop chasing you, but it also confirms that they actually do fail to recognize a "fellow police" at times.
