The parachute prototype can be found here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/naval-warfare.87940/page-28#post-1786152 Please note that the parachute is still experimental. Don't airdrop stuff over water, or at speeds exceeding 180 mph, otherwise the parachute will explode. Thank you! It's nice to know that folks like the STOL kits. I'll be publishing an STOL kit for the Canadair CL-215 in the next few days, and I'll try to make STOL kits available for other aircraft too.
I modified the spotlight on the Bell 407 so that the player can point it at any other spawned vehicle, and the spotlight will track that vehicle. Also, the spotlight has a camera attached, so it's also an auto-tracking camera. It's very stable. What can I do with this? Police chases at night News choppers following police chases (day or night) Search and rescue What else?
I'll be releasing it next weekend. I need to tune it just a little bit more, and I need to build a demo video.
The auto-tracking spotlight/camera has been released. You can find it within the "Bell 407 Accessories" mod. If anybody has time, I was wondering if any officers could test the auto-tracker, please? I received a report from a user that they couldn't get the auto-tracker to work. I'm wondering if anybody else is having issues, and what kind of issues if they are.
Highbeam I managed to get everything working again but I can't seem to get the spotlight to track on the Bell 407 accessories.
So, if I understand correctly, the auto-tracking spotlight is installed on the helicopter in the parts selector, but the spotlight stays pointed straight forward; it doesn't track other vehicles. Is this correct?
If everything is set-up correctly, it will work. The only reasons that it might not work are (1) something wasn't set-up correctly, or (2) another mod is interfering somehow. Try this: (1) Deactivate all mods other than the Bell 407 and the Bell 407 Accessories. (2) Spawn the Bell 407. (3) Select the "Autotrack Spotlight" in the parts selector. When the auto-tracking spotlight is installed, the spotlight will look like this: ...not like this: Note the different bracket and angle. (4) Map some controls to the spotlight's "Cycle Subjects..." functions. (5) Spawn a couple of extra vehicles. (6) Cycle through the vehicles with the spotlight. The spotlight should move as you cycle the spotlight through the vehicles. Does it? If the procedure above doesn't work, then I'm not sure what to do. It should work. If the procedure does work, then start reactivating mods until the spotlight stops working. The last mod reactivated is interfering with the spotlight.
the spotlight points at the target but fails to light it up. i have tried to deactivate all mods but it doesnt seem to do much
At least the spotlight tracks the target. This is the hard part. Now we just need to get it to light up. Switching the spotlight on/off is controlled by the "fog lights" controls, which I believe is Alt+N by default: Try the fog light controls and see if the spotlight lights up. If it does, reactivate all your other mods. If the spotlight still works after that, then you're good to go.
