Re: General discussion chat If that sandisk usb stick you are talking about is the SanDisk Cruzer extreme 32gb then you just purchased a bad ass usb stick. I have one, it absolutely flies and actually over achieves when benchmarked. Not to mention the insanely satisfying click it makes when you move the usb connector in and out of the usb stick body. Its really sweet.
Re: General discussion chat I had a friend tell me a story of one of his expecriences in university today. don't know the name of the prof, or what university it was. So some incredibly left wing students, I presume they're the types who constantly go on about social marxism and espouse a thousand tumblrisms a second, decided to go on a campaign against him. Completely undermining his academic freedom. The campaign started out as flyers printed and distributed in the university containing misinformation about how this professor is racist, sexist and "ableist". Spreading these ideas in his classes demanding a change in his curriculum and a public apology. It got to the point where his seminars and lectures where disrupted by the activists sitting in and constantly shouting, laughing and giving applause whenever this professor talked. Eventually escalating to the point where police got involved to remove the group from his lectures. All of this triggered by the presentation of historical sociotal norms about raising children in Greek culture, Rosseau and kant. the logic literally being "This professor is racist because the people he's talking about are racist and said nothing WE think is valuable". What on earth is wrong with academia? I know they're the ones producing this special snowflake mentality and the all oppresive "social justice" movement. Tumblr is the result of humanities study 'degrees'. But it's so painfully illogical, totallitarian and it's frighteningly strong as a movement now it's become a semi cohesive soccial 'force' under the band of feminism. I feel sorry for all the sane people in Sweden where politicians are pushing to make it illegal for men to urinate standing, and one of them has come out saying he forces his son to pee sitting down and isn't under investigation for being mental.

Re: General discussion chat the q6600 as stock clock is pretty bad. except if you can run it at 3.0 + could swap it for cheap xeon 771 with the pin mod if the mobo chipset support them 12mb cache at 2.8 + Will give about the same performance with the xeon than a fx 4100 that mean some game like battlefield 4 can run well on mid end gpu. did run my fx 6300 with 4 core on bf4 with my 7950 the cpu was crying but i could run it maxed out on 32 player at 40fps
Re: General discussion chat Finally getting a new laptop and want something I;d be able to run BeamNG on. Seeing as pc hardware isn't my forte what graphics card, ram, processor etc do i need to run it a minimum of 30-40+ fps? on high settings. Budget is probably around $2000 - $2500 and preferably it won't look to nerdy like an Alienware as i wouldn't want to be seen dead carrying one of those about.
Re: General discussion chat Unless you absolutely need a laptop, buy a desktop PC. You can get $2500 worth of laptop for $1000 on a desktop PC. If you do buy a laptop, go Lenovo. To run BeamNG properly, you'll need at least a high-end i7 CPU, and a good graphics card such as a GTX 970M. Laptop hardware is very underpowered when compared to desktop hardware, a high-end mobile i7 will have similar performance to an i5-4670 and a 970M will have similar performance to a GTX 760. Not bad at all, but it's very expensive. Don't worry about RAM as all laptops have a crap ton of RAM since it's cheap and makes it easy to tell idiots a computer is great because it has 16GB of RAM when it actually has a crappy CPU.
Re: General discussion chat That's faster than either of the SSDs in my laptop. :< They're both old 50-64GB SATAII SSDs. I want to get a pair of newer 64GBs because I'm pretty sure I can RAID them with my laptop.

Re: General discussion chat It's locked, so no OCing. The board isn't too great for that either. But hey, it was free. It's basically a pile of computer junk put together, and it's better than the Athlon 64 I used to have. I might eventually get a 9800GTX+, they can be bought really cheap and it's actually a great card, very outdated but still great for older games. The Q6600 won't run Beam but it's more than good enough for most games that can be played with a 9000 series card.
Re: General discussion chat Honestly a 970m is pretty much all you will need for most games as long as you don't go above 1080p. Anything with a current gen I7 is probably good enough.
