Love the way that answer came up while I was writing that one, I take ages to type, but my points on that still stand.
AMD isn't really an option, you have to stick with the intel masterrace. Trust me, I've always used AMD, the 4690K is my first Intel CPU and it's that much better. I'm never going back now. And see above, I just made a build with a good Z97 board, a Pentium, and a 260X. You can OC the Pentium all you want and upgrade when you can afford it.
That looks pretty good, even though it gets rid of the 270 it still stands for a very good budget build.
Yep, gonna get that one, was just planning to do some changes to get the z97 in there, but you guys already did it. So much support in less than an hour, most active forum I've ever seen.
God damn it! Oh well, if we reply to someone else's question after they post the reply, then so be it. BTW why do I keep coming across you in the forums? Are you everywhere and nowhere baby? - - - Updated - - - I posted a thread about if you still had your PS2 and by the time I refreshed the page after posting I already had 3 replies!
@OP What are you wanting the computer for? If it's for gaming, you'll definitely want something better than a 260x. No way should you spend more money on a mobo than the GPU. Try the 270 or 750ti. Both are good cards and will improve performance much more than an overclocked CPU.
I have never built a PC, not that I don't want to, simply deals that come along at the last minute. My friends at school think I am some sort of computer wizard/genius when in fact I know a bit, but if they did their research like I did, they could be easily just as smart as me and beyond. I love the way that they look up to me though for that and height reasons (I am second tallest in my class while still being one of the youngest) so they shouldn't do their research and just come to me. A dick move I know but when you are a computer fanatic, that's the only thing in life that you can cling onto, more so when you are my age. Saying that I have persuaded about 5 people to become part of the PC master race, most of them having previously had Xbones or PS4s which in itself is an achievement considering all they want to play is either BF4 or Advanced Warfare and some GTA (still waiting for GTA on PC...) but now they are mostly into CS:GO which means that they are now probably never going back. - - - Updated - - - For things like BeamNG it will matter more about a overclockable CPU, and will become more apparent in the upcoming games.
If you buy a crappy board, upgrading to a proper CPU will cost you $100-150 more due to changing the motherboard. The 260X is a good card for gaming in mid settings 1080p.
The 1150 socket will allow upgrades to vastly more powerful processors than a Pentium. There are plenty of i5/i7 options when/if the OP wants to upgrade. A 270 will allow you to max out most released titles and will provide better performance all round than a 260x. This is also coming from experience as I've owned both cards and I noticed a significant improvement.
Yes, but Devil's Canyon and Broadwell do not work with Z87/H87/B85 boards, and H97 is bad for overclocking.
I guess the only reason they did the Devil's Canyon in the H81 is because it is cheaper to buy K processors in bulk, but hey, I got a unlocked processor that I will get a new MOBO and overclock later on instead of buying a new processor and new board.
