Hi, I've made this empty map for anyone to use for free. You can use this to make your own map without much knowledge! It requires very little configuration before being ready for work. It has almost all assets from every vanilla map from the game + all the assets from my Poland map. There are three versions with different sizes: 1024x1024, 2048x2048, 4096x4096. I will update this and add more assets/improve them. This map is not perfect, there may be some small problems. I also made a quick tutorial showing how to get the map ready! I hope this will be useful for someone! :)

You can publish this as your own map and use my assets as long as you credit me.

You can report any issues on this thread or message me on discord!
You can contact me on discord @feway :)

Awesome! I wanna make a flat map. now its a bit easier. The one I tried using had random mountains and I messed with it more you can imagine, and for some reason I couldn't change the size of the map. But now you solved both issues. Thank you so much, keep it up! :)

    Hey, thank you very much!
Now I can easily experiment with maps not fearing that I will break 1 of the default maps (WCUSA, Italy etc.) to the point they turn into something like this: ;)

Pairing this with the road building tool in the most recent update makes this so much easier for me to at least attempt to begin a map. I've been trying to do one for a while but haven't had any idea how to start. Let's hope I can get somewhere with this

Almost the same deal with me, except I'm even more behind because I can't even figure out how to move the camera lol (I'll get there eventually). Good luck to you, and hopefully I can get started soon enough.

Never made a Beamng map in my life, but I wanted to try for a long time. This helped me a lot, because I could just start working on it without any tinkering. This is how it looks so far

That is sweet, I assume you were inspired by ECUSA? The two pics provided are also genuinely kind of nostalgic to me, I dunno why. Hopefully it'll be released, I feel like it would be cool to drive on that! :D
Anyways, I still haven't figured out what the camera movement keybinds in the world editor are (when I first got the game I cleared all keybinds and then added my own own bindings) so it'll be a while until I make anything.

Thanks, maybe I'll release it if it turns out good. I don't know about the bindings, if you cleared them all it could be problematic. The default is WASD + right mouse button and shift to speed up the camera movement

I still use WASD or arrow keys for normal movement (I usually drive on controller for variable input strength, but sometimes I feel lazy and just drive on keyboard instead — I do everything else like menu navigation with the cursor), same with right mouse to rotate camera alongside I and O to zoom in/out respectively.
I'm more wondering what the actual control "slot" is; what I mean by that is the stuff on the left side of the keybinds menu in settings, things like "Combined throttle/brake" for example. I can't remember if there is a section for the world editor in there or not, but if there is, I don't think there was anything for moving the camera there, only hotkeys for various functions (and as mentioned it's much more comfortable for me to navigate there in the menu using the cursor, even if it does take longer)

So I've noticed a small issue. This template map uses assets from East Coast USA, like building and stuff, right? For some reason these buildings are missing the wood siding texture, and look like they are covered in plaster instead. On ECUSA they look how they're supposed to look like, but on this map they seem to be using the wrong texture. You can clearly see the problem on the screenshots below. Any idea how to fix it?
Edit: I just noticed that the windows are also a bit different. I don't get it, it seems like a different model, but it has the same file name

Oh, I apologize, I might have missed this! Here's how you can fix it (make a backup of your map and the levels folder) for now: Go to the windows tab at the top of the screen, Open the Material Editor, In the Material Editor on the top search: "eca_bld_woodcladding_new", Scroll down a little and replace the color map, normal, specular, texture paths with these:

    Color map: levels/east_coast_usa/art/shapes/buildings/eca_bld_woodcladding_new_d.dds
    Normal Map: levels/east_coast_usa/art/shapes/buildings/eca_bld_woodcladding_new_n.dds
    Specular Map: levels/east_coast_usa/art/shapes/buildings/eca_bld_woodcladding_new_s.dds

Then click save current material at the top (the little floppy drive icon), and save your map. This should fix the walls for you.

I will update this to fix this and the windows and add some stuff in about 1 or 2 weeks :)
