Re: General discussion chat Yeah. I have had 3 pairs, but too bad these aren't unscathed. Need to get fixed.
Re: General discussion chat They don't really need to be all that powerful. This rig, apart from editing, is really more an exercise in Nvidia SLI. The only problem is, quite obviously, I know the square root of jack shit about Nvidia cards. I need something that can be picked up used for less than $80, are relatively powerful (they don't have to beat my 7850), and are relatively reliable. - - - Updated - - - In other news.... Audi is killing off the R8. What a shame, I really like the R8.
Re: General discussion chat Apparently my laptop was missing a screw from the factory. Dell needs to send me a screw now. Fun.
Re: General discussion chat Hmm... Poor internet speed is either a) a driver issue or b) my backup card is bad as well. I hope it's the first one.
Re: General discussion chat Sigh http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...t-thickens-nvidia-has-to-revise-specs.209339/ nvidia, the way it's meant to be played
Re: General discussion chat It's all marketing... the 970 does have 4gb vram, just not all as fast as the other, though. And AMD's 8 core CPU's still aren't true 8 cores.
Re: General discussion chat Eh, the only time I've come close to filling 2GB is in Battlefield. I mean, it'd be a problem for 4k and multi monitor gamers, but not for your average Joe on his 1080p screen. Also muh dual R9 270s are gon smash a single 970.
Re: General discussion chat Right, but it does have less SUs and L2. Obviously the benchmarks still reflect the true performance (which is nice) but that doesn't mean they will not be sued. If they are sued they'll lose. That's not defendable.
Re: General discussion chat They do have 8 cores, with shared floating point units, but they are 8 cores. The 970 doesn't have twice the performance of a R9 270 (Although it's close), but you don't get a 100% performance gain from CrossFire either so nope. - - - Updated - - - Here are your wallpapers. I was bored so I also made some alternate colour versions. (1080p) (4K) I also made some different versions of my previous wallpapers: (1080p) (4K) So many pictures :|
Re: General discussion chat If I did mind I would have PM'd them :| They're free to take. If anyone wants the huge (8000x4500) export version just ask (I will not give away the vector drawings though).
Re: General discussion chat I have been following the 970 bs since i own the card. I am fairly pissed off to be honest. If they advertise a card as having 4GB of ram and the bandwidth as being 224GB/sec then it should be able to reach those speeds across all of that ram. What they have done is blatantly lied about the performance of the card. I am also annoyed with nvidia because of the driver issues with the 9xx series which causes micro stuttering in games as well as screen tearing inside of windows. Combine that with nvidia's truly awful customer support on there own forums and you have one mighty fine company. Now i can add to my "at least Intel integrated graphics work" with "and they work as advertised too" In other news i set up a homegroup, turns out creating a "share folder" and sharing it between the tablet and desktop PC is a fantastic way of moving data around. Not only that but i can make programs in vb on the computer inside that folder and then test the programs on the tablet so that i can test multiple screen resolutions easily. Its awesome.
Re: General discussion chat They didn't lie about the performance of the card, since the benchmarks are correct. They lied about the specifications. And it does not affect performance in 1080p at all. I have never topped off 2 GB, let alone 3.5 in 1080p. For people gaming in 3x1080p or 4K it's not an issue either since they'll likely have an SLI setup with twice the memory, since a single 970 isn't powerful enough for 3x1080 or 4K anyway. I'm still buying one. I hope they cut the price because of this
Re: General discussion chat You knew what i meant when i said performance I will probably own this card for 5 or so years. 4GB of vram may actually be of use within that time. Its still total bs, Personally i am fed up with nvidia. My 560ti was unstable crashing daily because the drivers did not function correctly with the gigabyte variant of the card. The 970 cant even play thomas was alone, nvidia responded by telling me it was a CPU bottleneck. Now while i have came to understand that dx9 + BeamNG causes a CPU bottleneck on my system there is something very very wrong if thomas was alone is causing a cpu bottleneck with a gtx970 and I5 2500K... [/rage] While AMD has many issues at least they seem to be somewhat honest about them. It would also seem that Intel as of recent has been rock solid in every respect.
Re: General discussion chat Even better. Visual studio remote debugging Think it can do standard applications rather than just WinRT (which is all I've tried so far), not looked into it.
Re: General discussion chat i wish i plan on getting the gigabyte mini-itx gtx 970 atm, if nvidia dropped prices when i go to get it that would be awesome (need to update sig still)
