On the BeamNG reddit, stenyak (BeamNG dev) posted some information about the Covet getting some rally updates: https://www.reddit.com/r/BeamNG/comments/1j1iwus/tripoding_in_beamng/ It seems like some older rally variants of vehicles will be getting some updates. Mostly just appears to be some handling/tuning updates to make them drive better. The only vehicle stenyak confirmed is the Covet, but we can assume that maybe a couple of other rally configs will be getting some updates as well. I'm not too knowledgeable on all the different rally classes and groups, but it could be possible that we get multiple rally configurations for each vehicle with different classifications, like different engines, different amounts of power, drivetrain layouts, etc. The only proper class we have in game is the 390 GT Group 4 rally configs for the Bolide while the rest of the vehicles only have the generic "Rally - Gravel" config. We also know that the Sunburst will most likely get a remaster, which will also possibly contain several rally focused configurations.
I guess I hadn't really made the connection that we are most likely getting a more rally-themed update and well the sunburst would be a perfect match because of Subaru things
I hope the Sunburst remastering will do something about the discrepancy between the look and the lore year. In the lore, the model year is 2009-2014, but the car is heavily inspired by the 2002-2007 Impreza GDB, which makes it look old-fashioned in relation to the year. Personally, I think the model year should be changed to something like 2003-2008.
I just realized that tomorrow is Teaser Tuesday, but it’s also my Birthday! I hope for a nice gift from the devs
Happy birthday mate. i hope you have a best birthday ever Also sorry to be a downer I dont think this week, we been blessed with lots, i think they will skip it this week, would love one of corse but maybe next week i think. BUT am hopefull
not to mention that it's also the size of a GC impreza. I suspect that the rear doorcard design was changed to something more conservative, so that the car can have a pre-facelift added. I'd guess something like 2004-2008, akin to one of the earlier second gen imprezas. Depending on how true-to-life they want to make a replica of ferrettank's real car, it could be quite similar to the Bugeye.
Does anybody know if they'll add another American auto maker to beamNG in the next updates? Like Cadillac? Lincoln, Mercury, or Pontiac? It's just my dream to have at least one official Pontiac car in the game because they are my favorite car manufacturer. The sad thing is that they got shut down by GM in January 2010 along with Mercury. The last Pontiac ever sold is actually in a museum I think if you search it up. Happy birthday VladisRacer!
Wait guys, I meant my Birthday is tomorrow, the same day as the Teaser Tuesday. Still, thank you so much Didn’t expect to see so many congratulations despite being basically unknown on the forums, this community is truly unique --- Post updated --- It’s okay either way, but it’d be a true miracle if they tease something related to that spike strip thingy concept from Jan 15th post
Not trying to sound sulky or anything but… As much as I really like the covet MR turbo as it is (I think it has a really good handling and looks) it still feels a little bit like a missed opportunity with it not having awd variant, especially considering the theme of upcoming update. It would make for a great faux-group B monster. I guess it already does since the group b renault 5 turbo has also been rwd but let’s be honest it has never really been up there with the awd big boys (audi, peugeot and lacia s4).
I would like the idea of an "S2" varient of the Covet MR Rally with AWD and more extreme aero to fill in as a later / higher class version of the same car. I agree that AWD would make that thing very entertaining to drive and would fill the niche of 80s AWD Group B. We already have the Bolide for 80s high-power RWD rally, so the MR could fit in nicely with an AWD model. Nothing of the era in that class used FWD to my knowledge but we do have the regular Covet for FWD rally as well as the often forgotten Tograc as a more modern example. Wrote all this forgetting about the 80s Pessima actually.. and the i-series.. ignore me lol
Actually yeah to be fair I can see that. Maybe the I-Series would be a better fit for an S2 varient akin to the Quattro? The aero kit on that looks really inappropriate for the config in my opinion. Probably better at this point to come up with some kind of simpler classification for the cars in Beam rather than trying to relate them to real era appropriate rally classes
